I do music performances live. Not really for a living, but for some extra funds. Each audience is different. Most are appreciative. Sometimes you get a rough crowd. The spontaneity of live performance is what makes things unique. You never know what exactly to expect.
Hmm...I used to perform in front of small crowds as an adult, in front of much larger crowds as a kid. Most recently I did street performing which was awesome. I'm actually looking into performing again...for small private groups to start with and then I may start going out to small venues.
During my last piano recital (as a senior in high school) I sort of blanked out in the middle of the piece and "forgot"...but my mind managed to come back and finished alright... However, I knew THEN I would never, ever be a performer. I'm not shy about speaking in front of people (and as an adult I used to frequently)...but "performing" as in doing anything musical...oh. hell. no.
i perform burlesque and the like. will be doing so at an erotic convention in detroit upcoming in feb, and another fest in chicago. i do some fire play, with palm torches mostly or fire breathing. i'm learning to hoop, so i can incorporate that into my performances, with either an LED hoop or a Fire hoop i just really like dancing, and people really like watching me dance.
There was a young kid playing guitar and singing at the local bookstore last night, maybe 11 or 12. He wasn't very good, but I was proud of him for getting up there. Practice makes better.
i played sports in high school. i suppose technically that is performing live in public. in elementary school i did odyssey of the mind. i played the lead two of the three years i was in it (we got 2nd in our region one of those two years). when i worked in a pizza place where we actually tossed our pizza dough, people used to stand there and watch me toss pizzas. they even clapped occasionally. it was weird. now, i do nothing of the sort.
Baahaha I'm a pizza performer too, then. Dominos and papa johns customers clap and get all excited to see me toss the pizza.
Juggling. :juggle: When the weather permits we get down at this park once a week. Do some contact juggling as well. Besides that, we try and hit up any arts festivals or local music fests when we get a chance.
Back in my freshmen year of college I got to play with the Houston Symphony (they were doing a reach out program to get more people into music majors) and got to perform in a few concert in the pit - simply amazing, will be bragging about it for the rest of my life
I don't perform a lot, but my performances are usually for decently sized audiences and we rehearse like hell for them (I'm a performance major at a conservatory). The summer after I graduated from high school I played drums at the Rochester Jazz Festival in front of what my dad said must have been 6,000-7,000 people on the street stage. That was a fun gig. I really want to start gigging out around town here like I did back in Rochester but Idk how because I don't have a car.
I helped a friend of mine write a song so I performed it a couple of times with his band. that was enough to make me realize performing music is not my thing. I was terrified. I was in the drama club in school and I loved loved loved acting in front of people. I would love to get back into it but I don't really know where to start
I used to do standup comedy but I started getting shy so I quit. In SF Japanese tourists would give me a couple of dollars to take a photo with me (I had a quiff and dressed like a greaser). Not much money but it helps when you're in college.
Nice, that's interesting I used to do regular street performances with a group and did fire breathing, juggling and hoops. I love the whole exhibition, being center of attention appeals to my ego. Yeah sometimes you get a dull response, but it's not often
I use to sing on stage during festivals when I was young. I have been thinking of playing my harp at a local coffeehouse soon. I need to buy new harp strings first.
I have been performing in the park and many areas around Boston and many people give money everyday. Today my amp crapped out and i could not perform, now, what made it all better? even before I got to my spot a group of tourists (all men) payed me 20$ to take a picture with them, they all looked healthy and loaded $$$$ lol.
Played over 1200 gigs in various bands from 1985-2011, for crowds from bikie gangs to classy corporates. Gave it up when fucking gaming machines ripped the soul out of pubs and clubs....but even today I can picture an empty dance floor suddenly fill up within 4 bars of starting Sweet Home Alabama
