So I have been tripping occasionally for about a year now, and I have had some mixed results ranging from my first acid trip this summer, which was very pleasant, to my shrooms+25i+weed trip that turned very intense and an experience from a week before that where I did morning glories and smoked weed and don't remember most of it, but left me shaking for a day afterwards.

I took another trip recently on 1.5 hits of very potent blotter (for perspective, everyone else had either 1 or a half). On the come up, I started to get really uncomfortable, as I felt very disoriented and started to worry about things like "what if god isn't real" etc. kind of ironic because I'm an atheist. I got really worried and blabbed to my roommate's brother about all my mental health problems I had as a kid and whatnot, he was really understanding and helped me through it (he's a psychonaut and a really wise dude).

Anyway, the entire day I kinda had to fight a bad trip, the visuals were kind of eerie although there were very few visuals despite the amount I took, probably because my ego was fighting them. My ego, as I learned, is vicious when it gets threatened, and tried very hard to fight the acid, which left me very uncomfortable. Although I feel like I made a lot of progress over the trip, I am kind of concerned that all trips I take are going to be uncomfortable like that, which would kind of ruin acid for me. To be fair, I did go into the trip with some expectations about what it would do for me, and I did get sketched out because I was walking around with the extra tabs in my pocket for a while, and it was on a Sunday when I really should have done it over a break or something.

So my question is, I've got 3 tabs still, and I'm thinking about taking one with my best friend and possibly my cousin over spring break next week. Am I guaranteed an uncomfortable trip, or should I give it another chance?

Yea give it another try, but dont take as much, for the kind of effects ur lookin for 1/2 tab would be ok, if thats some fireshit like u say :p anyways u can redose like 1 hour later if u feel ur doing great :)
Sometimes u get dose weird trips u dont enjoy as much as the very good ones, it happens, it happened to me and its probably cause i wasnt respecting the substance and said okay ill be fine ill do this much without really giveing a fuck, but u always get good things from bad or good trips, tthings that make u a better person. . . i think

Hello my friend, be grateful for the experience(good or bad) try to remember what you learned and how acid challenged your ego. I am tripping for 3years now i thought my ego was gone but it comes up when you don't expect ego makes you blind. You should stop fighting with the trip and see what it has for you. Ego never makes you happy it actually makes things worse. Try to fill your head with positive stuff like teachings of buddha as you have it on your signature. Read poems, read books about these experiences, listen smooth chill out music, go to nature in a sunny day go to a place where you can scream cry or do whatever freely. Help is there if we start looking for it and talking and sharing we are not alone remember. LSD trip must not be played (all opinion of course) but doing acid once in 2weeks or once in a month is too much give your mind some break. These experiences are really remarkable with lots of insight if you overdo them they lose all the meaning. As i posted in my latest trip report try to be POSITIVE about every aspect of the trip go with to flow but make sure to smile to all of it. The most important thing i learned from the trip is that we don;t actually need this to gain these revelations. Books meditation yoga love can do it for us! Don't wait psychedelics to make progress just start doing something now, talk with other share positive vibes surround yourself with positive stuff you will see how it affects you. As one my friends said revelation is big work not a lsd trip! You think you have a revelation or you have? These two advices from my friend are golden and i though it would be nice to share with you. Never ever have expectations from the trip you will be disappointed just see and accept whatever it shows you and after you accept and accept you go deeper and deeper! Take a good break from tripping and just chill for awhile acid will be there always this stuff don't happen so quick! its a process which takes time be patient try to be positive show love for everyone even your worst enemy after that you will see the changes. The beauty is inside you my friend nobody else needs to tell you that :) We are all a part of this mother nature its amazing yes!!!

You're not guaranteed an uncomfortable trip on the next trip, paying more attention to some of the variables that may play into your set and setting will help. You even mentioned that you had tabs in your pocket and you thought you could've chosen a better day to dose, so it seems you are aware of some variables that you could have taken more into consideration.

In preparing for a trip, consider those variables that are within your control pre-trip to optimize your mindset and setting, so that you feel more comfortable to submit control to the trip while it's occurring. A quality acid trip is likely to be a challenging experience, so confronting some mental adversity should be expected. However with consideration to set and setting, you will likely not so hastily fight the trip.

it looks cool. much cooler than God. Psshh. ;)

To the OP, just do it. Take 3/4ths a tab or less on a day you're feeling good and adventurous. If bad thoughts happen during the trip, explore them in positive or constructive ways. Or just pay your anxiety no mind. No one said anxiety is the fountain of wisdom or truth. ;)

The only trip I ever had that was pure bliss and fun with no heavy stuff was my first. Subsequently, every trip carries SOME degree of difficult experiences. It is to be expected.

    good post.

    i really like this statement.
lots of times people make it sound like if you have anxiety..there must be an underlying issue. i suppose that may be true in some cases. but the issue doesn't have to be a flaw about yourself, it could be more simple. maybe it's just that you took a strong drug and have pent up energy. go for a walk. change the music. change the room you are in.

Hmm, I wonder what that says about your views on that :)

...He says at age 19 :D

Your ideas of what "god" can be are still in their infancy . . . you may consider yourself an "atheist" in contrast to abrahamic religions, but I don't know anyone who goes through LSD and emerges utterly atheist. It doesn't mean we pick a religion. It means we learn that western atheism is a reactionary position against the judao-christian world, and that really the truth is much, much bigger than either of those two. :)

Regarding your anxiety while tripping, as others have said here, perhaps it just comes down to set and setting. Or, perhaps as your thoughts on god may reveal, there is a deep source of dissonance within you that is beginning to be addressed. Maybe you would do better to trip by yourself in a growing context and save the spring break plans for something else.

I don't really want to make this an argument about atheism, but the reason I got all worried about god is because I started to regress into my childhood stage, and I was raised Jewish, so there is plenty of theism in my past.

On the dissonance, there definitely is something there, it has very little to do with religion though. I had some serious mental health issues as a child. I was violent and I had (and to some degree still have) problems trusting other people. Most of that relates to my mother. I think that is what I keep confronting when I have negative feelings on a trip. I did notice that the negative energy felt diminished on this trip vs. the last one, which is hopefully a sign I'm making progress on healing the psychological wounds. I'm going to be home with my best friend and possibly my cousin next week so that would be a great time to trip, since they both want to and I'll be at my dad's house which is full of good vibes and empty of people. Time will tell though, if my mom and siblings stress me out a lot then I'll save it.

Dont rush the experience joey. Acid is a tool not the destination to be reached. Love art religion and friends can help you(Nikolai). Never be afraid to share your thoughts with people we all share this human experience together and go through all this problems together you are not alone buddy :) Never let others negativity embrace you smile to everything!!!. Acid can show you wonders but if you use it to overcome your problems (which it helped me i cant deny) it can become confusing and more devastating! a good friend might help but also might not help HAHA! The thing i mean by that is that when you are alone in the trip you get a better chance to explore yourself and project your thoughts. Me myself also experienced some moments in life where i had bad experiences with psychedelics! mhm so its better to wait for the right moment smile to everyone even if they pull a face you will feel the positive vibe trust me and things will starting to get better. It would be a good idea to wait a GOOD amount of time between your trips 2 3months to better absorb the knowledge. No one knows anything better than you. Also about God(i would die if i didnt join to this debate) you seem like you are not interested giving a few hours days months years for jesus christ all in all he died for your sins HA! There may be many gods other life forms more powerful not spefically life forms maybe a source of light in other dimension reality all this is possible dont get stuck with one idea. BUT BUT deep in my heart i know BUDDHA is real because i saw buddha is wondrous :) Yes! You dont need psychedelics to get better buddhas teachings is a better way to get better before gambling and jumping in to the fire. Try to find people you can trust being sketchy about people is also devastating :( just look in their eyes look for the love

Careful of falling into the trap of psychology where "something happened years ago so now there's something wrong with you". It's interesting, but hold that shit at arms length, because you can end up defining yourself. Although you've been shaped by past events and circumstances, you're not that shape.

It certainly threw my views back in my face :sunny:

It will certainly help you deal with your personal issues... but it will most certainly do it in a way that you won't expect... but you should learn from it.

It may take you somewhere dark to do that - just remember that you're safe and open yourself up to what it has to show you.

It will keep reflecting your ego back at you until you've been able to deal with what you need to.

It will show you things you never expected or imagined, just be prepared that your belief system may change - it likely won't mirror any popularised organised religion - it will be far more personal.

    Beautifully put, as always.
I've long assumed we are on the same page when it comes to this Writer, but you have yourself seen me go through phases of intense reverence and devotion while on a steady diet of psychedelics, as well as my more sober minded musings. I don't consider my own experience to be absolute, but I do think that there is a realization that occurs which is universal, and man has been driven to attain that state way on back down through the echos of memory in time to our earliest stages. You can see it in the earliest dated cave art, which can be interpreted to imply many different things, but to my mind it is ancient man reaching out for 'someone' else in his awareness of cosmic loneliness. Eventually, some'thing' responds. Not to everyone, and not often enough for our liking, but such is the case. 'nuff said. It most definitely takes personal development and comes at the expense of the major part of innocence lost.

EDIT- And I would like to add, that some of the most profound "God believing" people I've had the honor to know, were for the large part of their lives, among the bleakest and most depressing of atheists. Possibly this would include myself.

I like what you said about not taking your realizations to be absolute. This is incredibly important. I often speak in absolutes here, and to people irl, but really in my head there's always this disclaimer, "as far as I know, in this body, at this point in spacetime, for this conversation". :D Being open is the best way to receive or become aware of knowledge. Whether that knowledge is from "outside" us or not is I think, more of a debate concerning just exactly where "we" "end", rather than the validity of the knowledge itself. I dismiss notions about outer entities granting us knowledge, not because I don't believe people have experiences where entities grant them knowledge, but because I think the separation between them and that entity is an illusion.

Even in Islam, a religion that, observed from the outside, is mostly believed in by people who feel quite a distance to their God, even an "infinite" distance, states in its holy book that God is closer to you than your jugular vein. I think it's hinting that, in fact, it would be more correct to say that God is your jugular vein. How to reconcile that with the rest of what's written in that book, or other holy books, well . . . history unfortunately is full of silent editors and people with power and agendas.

BTW, you made an appearance in a dream of mine a few nights ago :D don't remember what was happening, think we were tripping together or some such thing. Your sig has etched itself into my psyche almost as much as the wonderful conversations we've had ;) lol

Ok so I absolutely do not have the focusing ability to read whatever was just posted here, but I am tripping again on acid right now and it's much better. I'm in my home now as opposed to out at college which I think is a big part of it. I definitely am glad I gave acid a second chance as this is really nice. Thanks everyone for all the love that you have given me through your advice. I love you.
