So ive finally come to the decision to head out on the road this summer. This will be my first time so im very excited and have been working on making a plan, im gunna start the trip in wisconsin and go to canada, but im not sure where in canada to go to, and was hoping for some suggestions for locations. Any advice from people with experience from the road would be much appreciated.
It really depends on what kind of things you're looking forward to doing and how long you want to be on the road. Starting from Wisconsin, I'd probably cross at the Sault and head to Algonquin for some great hiking and camping. Then I'd hit Montreal for some of their summer festivals. Also: Please buy some travel insurance if you go to Algonquin. We're taxed to death for our Health Care and injured American visitors leeching doesn't help. I know this reads as snark but it's an issue.
What direction are you thinking of heading? How are you travelling? What do you want to see? you have to ask yourself these questions before you can really plan any trip. Being a true Albertan, I would say you should head here, but that may not be what you really want. I have been clear across the country, east to west, on many occasions, and there are fantastic things to see and do everywhere. If you are planning to drive yourself, just be prepared ahead of time, there are a few areas where gas is very few and far between. In the north, if you head that way, everything gets very sparse. And even staying to the south, there can be very desolate areas that you don't really want to get stuck in.
you should be aware that you need a passport to travel to canada. how will you be traveling? if you don't have a job or are not in school, there is a good chance you will get hassled at the border if you look like a hippie there is a greater chance that they will search you
I'm not so sure about that one. When I've gone to Canada, they always check my passport. I think you can also get a modified drivers license though
