I never come here anymore. I quit way back in '06. All this stuff you see with my name on it just appears because of the log jam on my hard drive from back when I didn't have high speed access to the net thingy. Someday I'll reformat...and I'll be gone......
Me now. No one has said hello, wants to chat or be friends. Not sure what to think. Thought the time was right to get on with having some fun and look forward to catching up with new friends? oh well.
It takes a while to get to know people here nicky. If you stick around and join in more conversations you should get to know more people.
Welcome. It is likely I will never see you again, and therefore never speak to you again - but, welcome. http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showpost.php?p=7581528&postcount=8
I come on forums to see what other people in the world are up to or thinking or whatever. I find it interesting. I'm not one to really try and make friendships online anymore. There's a few people here that I talk to and enjoy talking to. I know I don't offer much in threads other than pointless dribble but most of the time I re-read stuff I've said months later and have a good LOL and if I'm not making myself laugh then there's no point in living because I think I'm the funniest person ever and that's all that really matters. The annoying threads here are all the barefoot ones and conspiracy and government bullshit because everyone thinks they're soooo political and all, kind of pathetic in my opinion. And the barefoot ones well, how many discussions can you really fuckin' have about wearing no shoes? But they come up every day. The conspiracy threads are totally whack and ya'll sound like morons most of the time but hey, I believe in some pretty bogus shit too so whatever floats your boat.
Boredom and habit. I pretty much have Hip and another forum up on it's own little screen most of the time.
I don't wonder, but I wondered about why I joined Facebook now that I come back to look in both I see that they are two worlds apart. Doesn't have to be, the doors to hippyland never close.
I, of course, have to come here. But I would probably visit it anyway if I wasn't the webmaster. Then it would be more fun. As any mod will tell you, it's never as much fun when you have responsibilities on the site and have to make decisions about people and their postings. So yeah, it's not so much fun for me as for most of you. And other than things slowing down (since so many left for Fuckbook), it still seems the same to me here. In fact there seems to be a LOT LESS crap than before when the RT was a free-for-all with ppl insulting others endlessly. Those who've stuck with the site despite the ups and downs have earned respect and learned how to conduct themselves online while maintaining their freedom of speech. Think about this...it's the Internet that has changed over the years. The younger generations have a completely different attitude and take on it than we oldsters do. Young people are much more accepting of the technology behind everything, letting our gov'ts and corporations spy on everything they do without a care in the world. But some of us understand quite well, the web they weave and how people get trapped in it. Everyday I get a number of requests for account deletions because people are now embarrassed or worried about job prospects due to things they've posted online. That is a big reason why some ppl aren't around anymore. How sad for them to think that by expressing their freedom of speech would lead to financial/job/relationship issues many years later. Like there was something inherently wrong about speaking freely...or being associated with a site like this.
I always saw RT as a different entity within the Hipfora. Sure, there was crap, but mostly it was the same people who just jestingly and with a wink were challenging eachother. And it stayed in RT, it was kinda like a non-written law that it stayed within RT and not spreading to the other fora. RT was the pinnacle of free speech within the free speech forum. Plus it was not only crap, there were lots of informative and interesting threads too. RT is what kept me at the Hipfora back then, it was alive, critical, humorous and indeed, Thoughtfull.
Yep mine as well! I like to participate in the forum games too. Alot of the game players are funny, clever, and seem to have fun. I also like read the opiate and chem threads.( GB, you're so great there.) I always try to advise posters with my experiences to help them avoid the pitfalls, yet I see the same patterns over and over. They ask for advice & get mad when you tell them to be careful. Oh well, I tried. I use to love the chat rooms here and I met many cool posters chatting. But I just got tired of all the racism there so I just stay the hell out now. HF is way better than facebook hands down. I try to check in every day here.
yep, if it weren't for old RT i probably wouldn't have made it past a couple hundred posts here. there's probably a few posters that wish that had been the case.
It's a shame that not all employers have the policy that your personal time is your own, to use as you wish, as long as you don't break any laws or do anything to help a competitor. But even if every company was run that way, it wouldn't help us small business owners. If there is any reason why our customers don't like us anymore, there is nothing to stop them from taking their business elsewhere. So I guess nothing will change. We have to stay under the radar.
I come here sometimes just to fuck around, sometimes because I enjoy the discussions. I have noticed that threads generally begin to get repeated after a while which might be why some get bored and drop off. I have a question about being found on here by potential employees. Is that even possible? I can't really think of anything here that would give away my real identity except a picture I have in a private album. I've even googled my real name before to see if it can somehow link back to my hip forums account and nothing came up.
