What are sme good songs [by old popular artists (ie Grateful Dead) ] that are good Jesusy type songs...THis is what i have so far Cold Jordan: GD And We Bid You Goodnight: GD Greatest Story Ever Told: GD Tougher Than Nails: Joe Diffie Lord of the Dance: Irish Rovers Spirit in the Sky: Norman Greenbaum okay, im not putting on Jesus by VU and i have a couple questions; Is The Weight by The Band all Christian and stuff?, cause it sounds like it is... And second, how bout Beginning to See the Light by VU?
Spirit in the Sky and The Weight are good songs [despite their religious connotation.] The Weight does sound religious, but I'm not so sure its a positive expression of the artist's fate. P.S. Ctrl + Directional Key = skipping to the end/beginning of a word and then to the next.
another great uk band are spiritualized with tracks =here me lord =wont get to heaven the state i am in. also a group called the icicle works with a great track called =gates of saint peter.....led zeppelins =stairway to heaven...........peace
i think that may be a GEroge Harrison cover...does it go "hear me lord, oh please forgive me the years htat i ignored you" or seomthing.... Lucy In the sky, what i kinda mean are like classic rock songs that are spiritual in lyric, but not just any old, cause i made one of those a while ago, but i have qite a few Christian type songs on my computer and so i decided to made a whole Cd of em...so i was asking for any classic christian songs...
Okay right, then My Sweet Lord isn't such a good suggestion because the Hallelujah changes into Hare Krishna halfway . Well, don't know if anyone has said this before but I am sailing by Rod Stewart would qualify I think. Though I can't stand that song, to be honest. Peace!
You want Christian oriented stuff of quality? I can recommend a few - Bob Dylan -'slow train coming' and 'shot of love' Gillian Welch 'Revival', 'Hell among the Yearlings' Many songs by many artists including Van Morrison, Greatful Dead, Leonard Cohen, and don't forget the Byrds classic 'Jesus is just alright with me'. In the classical field, J.S.Bach wrote some of the greatest Christian music of all time. I'd reccommend his Motets and other choral works. Some say in places it sounds as though it were written by God Himself! Love & peace.
Thanks BBB and everyone... hey rolly, how do you get to the music part of that site caues i figured it would be good to recomend to my friends but i couldnt do anything on ti

Oh and there is another song i really love, its not christian per se. The Corrs - (Heaven knows) No Frontiers If life is a river and your heart is a boat And just like a water baby, baby born to float And if life is a wild wind that blows way on high And your heart is Amelia dying to fly Heaven knows no frontiers and I've seen heaven in your eyes And if life is a bar room in which we must wait 'Round the man with his fingers on the ivory gates Where we sing until dawn of our fears and our fates And we stack all the dead men in self addressed crates In your eyes faint as the singing of a lark That somehow this black night Feels warmer for the spark Warmer for the spark To hold us 'til the day When fear will lose its grip And heaven has its ways Heaven knows no frontiers And I've seen heaven in your eyes If your life is a rough bed of brambles and nails And your spirit's a slave to man's whips and man's jails Where you thirst and you hunger for justice and right And your heart is a pure flame of man's constant night In your eyes faint as the singing of a lark That somehow this black night Feels warmer for the spark Warmer for the spark To hold us 'til the day when fear will lose its grip And heaven has its ways And heaven has its ways When all will harmonise And you know what's in our hearts The dream will realise Heaven knows no frontiers And I've seen heaven in your eyes Heaven knows no frontiers And I've seen heaven in your eyes
