I look beyond skin color. It seems that you like to focus a lot more on what color someone is.

Am I racist because I used a word that makes you uncomfortable? It takes a lot more than just being black for me to call someone a ******. Just like it takes more than being white for me to call someone white trash. Would you prefer I just say "black trash?" I suppose I could, but I've never been comfortable with the idea of banning a word because it makes some people uncomfortable.

i have always thought the way jim describes.eyes, skin ,hair color.ect.the color i focus on the most in everyone,is the color of their souls.personality.the word you used did'nt make me feel uncomfortable at all. thats way to mild to describe it.just made me feel the way it always dose,a bit despairing,like jim hendrix and bob felt,that until the day comes,yes there will always be racism.no uncomfortable is not the word.just in awe that in the year 2013 people still use words and labels that were put on people out of nothing short of plain nastyness and badness so many yrs ago,when black people were taken from their homelands and kept and sold as slaves.they called negros niggers purely to offend,belittle and demean.and this thread is about racism towards all people whatever their race or culture.and do you really believe that theres one black person in here that would'nt find the use of the word ******, even in a pisstake, hurtful towards them and theirs?but of couse like any minority,its not a priority.once the masses go along with it,well that ok then is'nt it. i can feel jim and bob rollin' in their graves.but hope still lives.one day people will wake up and see the color of everyones eyes,cos humanrights workers will never give up the fight.

 

i've had this conversation wih elders of the black panthers and black members of jimmy's household and the thing we agreed on is that pc only gives racists a blueprint for disguise. if a man is thinking ****** and saying 'african american' he's dishonest and you best be ready for the knife in the back bro.

A REAL racist - unlike NP - wouldn't concern themselves with being politically correct.

I would wonder why two people who say they are not racist would use a racially derogatory word, and also say it takes a person more than to be black to be called it.

Personally, if I want to call somebody anything I don't have to prefix it with a colour. Try it, Ranger and LetLovinTakeHold.

yeah, that's pretty much the standard usage these days, at least in my experience. especially when i was living in the city. now that i'm back in the country, i still occasionally hear an older person saying it to refer to any black person.

I think the term is too firmly embedded in the history of American racism to be used generically to refer to anyone of any skin color who is a thief, dishonest, etc.
