The first time I took my kids fishing. I just didn't go to work one day picked my son up from day care and then my daughter and we spent the day fishing on the river. It wasn't about the fishing it was about them. My son was so excited to see me early and we had a blast. Very memorable.
Wow, I'm sorry calgirl and Ty. Glad you both are ok. I'll never forget the feeling I had when I was little and the world seemed so simple. All we needed was power rangers and afternoon cartoons to make life worthwhile.
Helping birth my kids at home. All the little incidents that happened as they grew up. The laughs I had at the silly things they did. The fun I have had watching them become adults and being able to work with the funny suckers after I taught them the "trade". Trying to teach them right from wrong and seeing it take. The freedom I had as a kid. Little town,no crime, good cops(!),hot summers, doves cooing in the park across from my house, fighting wasps with a paddle and getting stung a lot. 12 cent movies--double features, short subjects, cartoons and war footage(early to mid 40s.) So much to remember and I remember 99 % of it. 1st tab of windowpane to the tune of Inna Gadda Da Vida at 28 years old in Hawaii. etc-etc-etc--------Joel
One afternoon south of my home town drag racing on the highway. Truck and trailer loaded with lumber misjudges our speed and pulls across the highway. Other (brand new '58 plymouth)car hits first=2 in front seat dead. Our car hits second and continues out into a field.=2 in front seat=driver (my friend) a near vegtable for life. And me. They called me Mr Lucky around there for a while.
I was a sixteen-year-old paperboy for the Washington Post early one morning in June 1968. When I got to the drop, I pulled the brown paper wrapper off the stack of papers and saw the headline "Robert F. Kennedy Shot Dead By Assassin After Winning California Primary". I don't think I was ever the same again.
