Is the €uro accepted widely, or would one be better off bringing dollars?

From my experiences in Peru, dollars would definitely be the best option. Many places will accept them as currency, and they have a very favourable exchange rate....

Southern Peru, around the Cusco area, where I did some trekking in the Andes, and then went down to the eastern rain forest regions. I then went to Machu Pichu and also did a community project at Lake Titikakka. It was amazing, I definitely recommend the place....

Yeah, in Chile they were happy to see american dollars but I don't know of anywhere where they accepted euros. Lots of exchange centres though - some rip-offs but lots of good ones too.

As far as I know... they will not accept the Euro anywhere in C.A.

Most backpacker joints bearly know what the Euro is.
