I don't really have a time frame set. A few years at minimum. And if you mean length wise, I heard they get pretty heavy when they get really long, so I probably would let them grow to my butt and then trim them to mid back or so, and continue with that routine. We will see when I get there

I did mean the length. Sorry for being ambiguous.

Wow, I was expecting you to say: Just past my shoulder. It will be nice to see how it turns out :)

    See you in 2016 :)

Hahn seriously. I don't really have any plans, I definitely can't wait until they get long enough to be able to tie them back with themselves lol hopefully they'll be long enough to do that by this time next year

from my experience this time next year they'll be an inch shorter than they are now lol.
just realised mine have shrunk way more in the past few months (from 11-13 months), my hain way about 2 inches longer before i dreaded it and that's with a year of growth lol.

Since I started them short, the period of shrinkage is usually over with quicker than people who have long dreads, since less hair has to mature. Idk how long yours were when you started, but people that I know, whose hair was about as long as mine, gained some major length inbetween 1-2 years. :2thumbsup:

yea mine was long to be fair. I was just so surprised when I realised! can't wait for them to be longer...again! haha
I reckon yours will shrink up a lot in the next few months though, because they don't seem to have very much so far. good luck!

I hope not! Mine shrunk a ton until about 6 months, then I noticed a tiny bit of length. They're tight as all get out, so I hope they're almost done shrinking

Thanks for sharing! They are looking great for 9 months. It's the palm rolling that has kept them straight, but that's cool! Every set is different. Welcome to our forum and may you have many a happy dread!

Thank you! Yeah, that's most likely it, but I like the neater look anyways, so it's good for me. Thanks again! :)

look like fake dreads to me but thats my opinion. dreads should be natural not all these wax dreads backcombing and whatever else u people use. cut em and start over bro...

Uhm excuse you. Since when does you opinion matter more than mine? I love my dreads and that's what matters. Keep your hate to yourself and don't tell me to cut my dreads or what dreads should or shouldn't be. It's a different journey for everyone and for different reasons, so the correct thing to do is to respect everyone in the community because they all have a reason, and they all are going through a journey. It's people like you that make dreadlock forums suck. Talking about "you people" seriously? Grow up.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and we must respect one another. Although a lot of us firmly believe that wax and crocheting dreads are incredibly bad for dreadlocks as a whole, others prefer that way. I am not saying you wax and crochet your dreads but it could be the fact that since you started out with a really short length that they decided to stay straight. I personally don't believe that palm rolling has anything to do with it being straight as I believe that palm rolling doesn't do anything. The straight dreads look good on you, but for some, like me, I prefer the natural bumpy look. I have a bunch of people telling me to crochet my dreads so it is kind of the opposite of what people say to yours haha. Good luck on your dready journey. Do tell me though did you use any products? It could also be with the shampoo you use. Some shampoos leave residue in dreadlocks which kind of act like a wax substitute. Anyways can't wait to see how they look when they get longer. Are you going to keep them short or grow it out?

Thank you so much. Yeah, dreads that were started long seem to end up bumpier and more unique. I've tried a few different shampoos. (Dreadheadhq, dreadlockshampoo's liquid, and also their tea tree bar, and also I just do BS ACV washes every now and then.) I didn't crochet them, I just used that to pull the tips in. As for wax, I started with a little, and then I didn't use any more, and I got all of it out because I focused on getting it all out before they turned 1 month old, so they were still super loose and easy to get it out of them. I can't wait until they start growing, and I plan on letting them grow as long as they want in the alotted time period. (I'm a mechanical engineering major, so after graduation ill most likely have to part with them to find a job in my field. But that will be at least two years from now, maybe more depending if I decide to double major or just stay in for my masters) thanks again! Peace and love :2thumbsup:

Surely you can just wear a nice big tam for that job? as long as its out of the way? but i guess it depends on where you work/live

I would try to. I plan on addressing the problem when the time comes, but I'm prepared for the worst.
