Samantha, where I think you and I (and several others here) may be different from most women is the lack of a strong mothering instinct. It is this drive that seems to motivate a variety of other related attitudes and behaviors, including monogamy and for lack of a better term, a 'nesting' instinct. I've never had a strong desire to play mommy, and make that the main focus of my life. That gave me a lot of time and freedom to explore other things.

 

You know, I wonder how much of that "nesting" drive is actually nature as opposed to nurture?

 

Being a mother has inspired me beyond just about anything else I've experienced. It elevated my own "women"ness to a degree that I didn't even know was possible. Ironically, I had no "strong mothering instinct" either. Once arriving to that point though, the power of that relationship is overwhelming. It has taught me a lot about what is legitimately important to me. And while I functioned as a mother pretty well, I also made some serious mistakes. In the midst of that, they saw me at my worse, and they learned that us mothers are people first. People with flaws. With my flaws out in the open, I came full circle, and accepted other things about myself that they have had to accept too. So I'm back to being even more of whom I had been from long ago.

 

Many socio-psychological experiments have been carried out by giving children various gender related toys to play with, and it nearly always results in a tendency for the boys to characterise the dolls as soldiers, whereas the girl will nearly always opt for the mothering role. Nurture may have some effect, but there is undoubtedly a major influence towards nature.

 

I think you're right. Women used to feel uncomfortable sleeping with anyone they weren't married to. Now they feel comfortable with at least a few premarital sex partners. That is a dead giveaway that they have been influenced by society. I hope one day soon women feel comfortable opening up more and challenging their socially prescribed role but I'm not holding my breath.

 

ok, it all comes down to this; I don't see too much value in myself but I want to keep my woman. I am not handsome, my body is so not sexy. I only have 2 physical attributes that women seem to like; I am tall (6'2") and I have a decent but not great cock. I do not make alot of money, I am not popular. My only decent personality traits are I am dependable, trustworthy, affectionate and have a decent sense of humor. I am not interesting, I don't have alot of life experiences (travel, interesting hobbies, etc.). I have health problems: Parkinson's Disease, a heart condition and a bad back.

fuck, if women could come and go guilt free then I would be all alone. What woman would want me? Only a woman who is monogamous and not driven by image.

if there was no stigma against women sleeping around a small percentage of men would be constantly fucking all sorts of women and alot of men couldn't get laid at all. likewise most men would queue up for the same women and lots of women would go to bed alone every night.

Comfort? It's got nothing to do with comfort. It's got everything to do with the 'comforts' women get from using sex as a bargaining chip.

If you've got a bunch of effeminate males who are willing to outcompete one another on the doormat scale, of course women are going to pit one against the other. I can't think of a more efficient way to do that than giving up on being with one man only their entire lives.

In the end, it comes down to this assumption that women are sexually oppressed. That something outside of themselves dictate their level of comfort. Women are and always have been part and parcel of gender role making. And, in my own anecdotal observation, women are much more likely to slut-shame other women than men are.

well, I'm glad I don't have to compete in the arena and to think I'm pretty lucky being tall. I have had several friends who felt like women preferred tall men and they felt put down. I also am happy with my cock size but that pretty much is the end of my physical charms. If I were single I would not try and find some standard slender white girl. I am Irish/German but I'll be damned if I would want some pale, thin woman. Thick and dark is the only thing I would want; Black, Hispanic, Indian with a gigantic ass.

Life is just fucking bullshit and I have zero use for 90% of what goes on, I don't like to leave my house and my answer to most things is either 'shut the fuck up' or 'who the fuck cares?'. The words and phrases you choose to describe the people on this forum (and in general) who have active sex lives is just fucking appalling. The only time I've seen that type of verbiage directed at other groups of people is in television shows where they showcase hate groups.
