I really want to get dreads and I really like the look of crocheted dreads but I can't find anyone who knows how to do it this way. I tried asking a friend but she wasn't able to get the hang of it and none of the salons I went to knew how to do it either. Anyone know of any place in Austin Texas that knows how to do it this way?

Yeah, please don't get crochet dreads. They are extremely bad for your hair as they break and damage your hair, causing your dreads to become weak. The best way is to go natural but if you are impatient like me then go twist and rip or back combing. I mean it is all up to you though, if you want to get crochet dreads by all means get it. Just leave them alone after you form your dreads.

hmmm mixed opinions on crochet if your gentle with the hook as in vid you dont have damage or issues later on crochet is great if done correctly and if you dont crochet on a regular basis seems to have a tider result at the start than other methods...

^^yeah I've heard both opinions on crocheting but I'm still willing to try it as long as I can find someone who knows what their doing. Ha, tripper I actually saw that video before and that's exactly how I want mine. I wish I could get the guy in the video to do mine.

I've never seen the crochet method of creating dreads done before, and I can't see how it could damage hair- it is strong stuff y'know.

Crochet for maintenance is great, I have had no adverse affects or anything from using a 2mm hook to put in clumps of hair back into a dread. Again.. Hair is strong.

If you're thinking of getting help to do your dreads definitely get someone who knows what they are doing or who has done it before. I'd recommend doing it yourself, it's great fun, mine only took 4 hrs the second time around with twist and rip.

That video looks so stupid, why would you put rubber bands on hair that heavily crocheted? completely pointless and I bet that's well annoying in a couple months...
Don't follow that video is my opinion. Crochet if you like just not too much or too hard or else it does break the hair and they will eventually fall out, I've seen it happen
