Your Dog has had Pups, You'd love to keep them all, But...

:) > Here's A few Tips for Finding your Pups a Happy Home!

    > I've gotten pretty good at weeding-out the abusive or with-holding or just generally lousy humans who want dogs for the wrong reasons... Like target practice or lab research.

    > I'm usually able to tell a softhearted, sappy human who will let his dog sleep under the covers
from the flakes & f***heads in approximately 10 minutes.

    > Always Ask Many Questions!

    > These Questions should be deceptively casual and non-leading.
You Don't ask a prospective owner, "Will you let your Pup sleep on the bed if she wants to?"
because he'll say, "Why, of course!" Just to get the pup.

    > No, You ask, "Where will the Pup sleep?" If the prospective says, "Out in the yard, or maybe in the garage if shes lucky," instead of, Wherever she wants," this is a person who has no interest in the comfort or feelings of a longtime companion.
:( > This person does NOT get a Pup!!!

    > I always ask a prospective owner, "Have you had dogs before?" If she answers, "Hey, yeah, lots and lots," I keep up the Questions... If Scruffy got hit by a car, and Fido just ran off one day, and she gave Rover to a friend because
    Rover pee'd on the floor.
:( > This person does NOT get a Pup!!!

    > I want people who stick with their dogs thru anything, people whose dogs live to be 15!

    > Then there are some people who desperately want a Pup, but they're unemployed and sleep on the couch at their mom and step-dad's mobile home with no fenced yard. If they can hardly take care of themselves, they should know better than to think they can spring for dog food and vet bills!

    > And then there are the Weird ones. People who say all the right things, but somehow I get a bad feelin' in the pit of my stomach. Or people who seem so lovely that when they say something like, "We already have 2 Cats, but we wouldn't mind if they got lost," I almost try to pretend I didn't hear that glaring callousness, because I'm so desperate to find the Pup a home. But then I realize, I'll just have to keep'em a little longer, because nobody should be so desperate they ignore big red flags thrown right in their faces!
