    Hi everyone!
So lately I've been told dreads would suit me & I really can't tell you how happy that makes me. I've always loved them. There's just something natural about them that catches my eye.
So does anyone know of a natural way to grow out dreads?
    Hope someone can help!

    Much love ~

The most natural way to get dreads is to stop combing and washing your hair.
Eventually it will dread and all you have to do is rip them from time to time. That is how I got my dreads and I have to admit they are the most natural looking dreads possible!
    :2thumbsup:

That's awesome because I'm all about doing everything the "natural" way!
I've heard of other ways to get them, but it just didn't feel right to me, Idk.
    Anyway, thank you! :)

    Much love ~~

Don't Take Any Notice Of Him Nelly, Dreads Are Formed By Friction

Between The Hairs And Dirty Hair Takes Forever To Lock Up.

I Think He's Just Having A Bit Of A Joke With You...:)

Actually, no I wasn't having a bit of a joke. I did actually get dreads that way, so I can positively tell you that it works and that they look very natural that way.
Don't take much notice of him Nelly, he is always trying to make me look like a fool.

Please wash your hair, there's absolutely no reason not to, and it's gross.
try the twist and rip method, it's natural enough but it just helps your hair get in to sections :) and do a bit more research
or if you're willing to go with the flow just stop brushing and see what happens! exciting

wash your hair, less than you may usually do. once-twice a week will do.
use non residue shampoos (lots of people like dr bronners). i use solid shampoo from lush.
do not comb. dont run fingers through. dont condition. dont style.

dreads will start to form and be crazy and loopy and birds nesty and AMAZING.
    dont use wax/gel/gunk.

    but DO wash your hair.
eta - focus on washing the scalp more than the hair. hair will look after itself
    :)

They have tons of videos and tutorials on the dreading process, along with natural products for the maintenance and cleaning of dreads. If you have caucasion textured hair, palm rolling and backcombing will get you were you wanna go. The neglect method is not advised.

dont listen to these fools. natural dreads are gross.

go to a salon and have a professional do it. they have products that speed up the process so your hair doesn't look like some shit a rastafarian coughed up

No Glen you're wrong the dread fairy comes during the night and does a magic ritual over your head that has something to do with a pint of rum, a cigar, and a live rooster. Any products or methods of creating friction will only slow down the formation of locks. At least that's the wisdom that I've gleaned from these forums.

You know you don't really need "shampoo" right .. Shampoo is actually not good for your hair because it dries out the scalp, takes away the natural oils so the body starts producing more which then makes the hair "dirty" ...
Haven't used shampoo for 1,5+ years and have clean hair every day.
