I have a response to this but it would get me banned. Censorship is everywhere - welcome to the internet, by the way.
if women believe they aren't the weaker sex surely they wouldn't get up on their soapbox and try to validate themselves so often.
Some people live off of playing the victim and from what i witnessed its a pretty sneaky manipulative tatic, becasue it plays on peoples emotions and so-called morality people always try to follow. I have seen men do this too and its not just women who do it. Its also typical self-defeating behavior and passive agression.
She's not stifling discussion period - she's stifling a discussion directly underneath the video itself, though, which is the place where most of the discussion would take place. And just because you aren't going to get a lot of intelligent discussion on a Youtube comments section doesn't mean that people shouldn't have a problem with that. A discussion that's 95% stupid is still a discussion. Any time I see someone taking a position on a social issue in a Youtube video with their comments section shut down, I see someone who doesn't want their opinions put under scrutiny, and therefore someone whose opinion shouldn't be taken as seriously as someone who allows a debate or argument directly under the video.
I think this is just a difference of opinion. A shitty discussion isn't better than no discussion at all, to me. Her shutting down the Youtube comments is fine. The video got circulated around quite a lot of places anyways.
A discussion with shitty, easily defeated opposing opinions, should only strengthen one's position. It is much better, it either cements an opinion, or discredits it. Entirely avoiding it, simply discredits it. Look at thunderf00t's reply, which I linked. And look at the long-haired guy's reply. She plain lied, as shown in the first, and as shown in the second, didn't do SHIT for research considering she got 150k, it's more like a high school class presentation, about your opinion. She claims to be qualified to actually analize these things, but blatantly misrepersents and cherry picks her examples, and implies and openly states all sorts of things about the situation and environment that causes these examples, that are simply lies.
I really like Jim Sterling's commentaries on women in gaming (either as characters in a game or as gamers themselves) along with the backlash on Anita Sarkeesian. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/vid...4-Anita-Sarkeesian-The-Monster-Gamers-Created This one specifically touches on the backlash she got. He does some comedy at the beginning and end of the videos, and he takes on a certain character for his video, but the bulk at the middle is generally some pretty good commentary and oft times cutting critique of the game industry and it's practices.
