I have just got home after a two week road trip. Really just to see if I could do it, I didn't take a single item of footwear with me (apart from the moonboot currently replacing the cast on my left leg) and also as I knew i would be doing a heap of walking on my crutches, I didn't take any shirts, jackets, or any other item of upper body covering either, so no chafing problems under my arms. It sure made packing my bag quick and easy. A couple of pairs of jeans, some shorts and job done! Even though we are well into spring here it was still a bit cool on my bare toes and chest some times but what an awesome feeling to get out of bed in the morning, pull on a pair if jeans and know that was the entire wardrobe for the day! I got some really good comments along the way, probabaly the best one was in a supermarket when a barefoot teenage girl stood alongside me and said "Man, I wish I could take my top off like you have!" Sometimes it is great to be a guy...
Good for you man. It's a rare that I get to just wake up and only wear a pair of jeans/shorts for the whole day, but when I do, I feel free.
It was a different feeling to get up and know I have no option other than to be barefoot and stripped to the waist rather than being at home and deciding that is how I am going to be for the day or whatever
The top of the North Island of New Zealand and I did everything anyone would do, just stripped to the waist with a very over-used and dirty single bare foot getting a work-out from the crutches. walking through a forest barefoot and bare chested was amazing, even the crutches wern't too much of a hassle as I have got so used to being on them. I have been to Australia since then, barefoot, bare chest and awesome fun, and yes, there are some photos. Have a look on http://www.flickr.com/photos/13622161@N02/ and leave some comments!
Sounds as if you had a good time. I just returned from a short trip using my crutches during which I spent most of the time with my foot bare but with a shirt on.
from reading your other posts I'm supprised that a 2 week road trip like that is a big deal? It seems like you go around like that most of the time? Anyway, glad you enjoyed the trip Shayla x
