Itz so funny... I am on the side of the elderly that have been taken advantage of ... but you all must not be able to surmize that from my post ...

age is just a number your as old as ur mind thinks and the way u feel but it shouldn't stop ya from doing any thing

 

Most demographic groups get discriminated against for one reason or another, by somebody.

But that said, I do resent being considered a doddering old fool simply because of my age, or having my opinions taken as simply the feeble-minded rantings of an old lady.

On the other side of the coin, I love it when I can learn something from a young person, or when they can learn something from me.

 

I'm 59 & yep, I've experienced age discrimination first hand...... The only pot I can find around here is sold by young people. When I tried to buy, for a while I was getting 'I can't sell to you! You know my mom!' Huh! Now I'm getting. ' I can't sell to you! You know my grandmom!' WTF! I'm an old hippie for christ sakes! Hate 'The Man', why would I rat anyone out?!?! Damned.... all I want is some herbage!

Damned, I just looked & saw I'm not the oldest one here!!! As a matter of fact, I may be the youngest!!! Wow! I'm the oldest on the other two forums I belong to. I'm in shock!

I'm in my late 60s. Some people respectful toward me, some too busy to notice, but few people disrespectful. I go to transformational gatherings such as psytrance forest parties, and find that many people at these are respectful and some people go out of their way to be nice.

Sometimes I teach classes at these gatherings - on dying and death, for example - and in that context people are very respectful. Someone pointed out that I'm respectful toward people attending the classes and people in general, so no surprises re how people interact with me.

I'm having a beautiful time these days.
