Hi, friends. Recently, I've watched a documentary about a naturist village in Rio Grande do Sul (South Region of Brazil) and I noted that most of the people was walking completely naked but wearing "havaianas" (rubber sandals) rather than barefoot. Outside home, I understand it because along the path you walk there can be small rocks, sticks and even little insects which could hurt the feet. But inside home I think it is very strange you have all body unclothed and uncovered and, at the same time, the feet "jailed" into sandals or some sort of shoes/socks. So, I would like to know about you, guys and girls who walks naked around the house: when you are naked, are you barefoot too? If no, why?
I think that going barefoot whether otherwise nude or not depends not only on the surface walked over but also on your own feet. Some of us have sensitive or troublesome feet that need protection. The rest of your body does not come into direct contact with surfaces so does not need protecting.
Hi, this is a thing i did discuss a lot with friends and others too, because I was wondering about it too. I guess a lot of people, no matter it nudists or textiles, don’t know / trust about the abilities of their feet and just think going barefoot is somehow dangerous. Often they are also educated in this way, or in a way that going barefoot is something gross. The result is, they have very weak feet and going barefoot just hurts them. So they don’t do and feel their prejudices confirmed. Like a vivious circle. Of course they miss a lot. Nakedness as a way to be one with nature, elements etc. only is complete when you are somehow grounded by bare feet. Just my idea. Based on my own experiences I can say going nude including bare feet is a much more intense, integral and sensual thing. I also like the concept of a waiver of just all covering. I’m used to go barefoot often in my daily life, at home anyway. So it’s no difficulty for me to barefoot for example at a nudist resort. But this is my own sight on the things. I don’t want to tell anyone “going naked but shoed is wrong” or something like this. Everyone is free to practice as she/he likes the best and feels most comfortable. If you go back to the roots of “modern” nudism, for example to the Monte Veritá community in the Ticino mountains in Switzerland (where e.g. Hermann Hesse did live some time) you will find out that even in these fundamental beginnings there were people practicing nudism in bare feet (most), but few others shoed. Take care!
Oi Roberta, again, i did forget one aspect in my first post, sorry. I don’t know if this counts in Brasil, you know better than me. In a lot of countries in the most people’s minds going barefoot is connected with a state of poverty or outcast. So maybe the shoed nudists you saw just want to avoid giving some impression in this sense. From some paper and TV reports I know that in the brasilian urban favelas a lot of people go barefoot . So this is why I thought the people you did talk about maybe tend to give a different impression. Just a thought. Tudo de bom!
If I'm naked inside I'm usually barefoot as well. If I want to go outside naked I'll usually put on some sandals. I don't always want to get my feet dirty/wet.
Some places there are too many diseases to take a chance on going barefooted. I used to live in South America and believe me you must be cautious.
If You Wore Shoes On Your Feet To Avoid Diseases, Did You Wear Gloves On Your Hands Aswell....??? Cheers Glen.
probably R&T tought about hook worms or similar parasites. But afaik this is more an African / Asian issue than a South Armerican. I don't know other diseases that infect over the foot SOLE, but maybe there are some though. Everyone is free to wear shoes if she/he feels safer this way. But the OP asked about nudists going shoed on ther own plot or in their house. i think the danger of infection or parasites infestation should be low there as long as you care for some basic standards of hygiene.
Being South African,we have a barefoot culture. Most of our primary schools are baeeflot schools,so walking barefoot is part of us growing up,so in SA nudists in general are barefoot, but even if one is not from a barefoot culture, walking barefoot outside will gradually harden ones feet,so the excuse of soft feet is so silly...naked with shoes of any sort just seems so wierd...it looks silly, like when you are at a nudist beach and some people walk with a t shirt and sneakers, but the genitals are exposed...that seems a bit exhibitionistic...nudists should,in my opinnion, not wear shoes...when naked...so if your footsies are soft...begin walking barefoot and toughen them.
I tend not to wear any footwear unless I have to say for work ect. As I'm a nudist and spend a great deel of time naked most of the time I'm barefoot
Depending on the terrain around your home, I could understand having footwear. Personally though I don't feel truly nude unless I'm completely bare, feet included.
There is no reason to wear any footwear indoors, and I never do. I'm usually nude indoors and outdoors--depending on the weather. It's been a little too cool and very windy outside for me to be nude. I'm having to run the furnace and an electric heater during the evening and the electric heater during the day to avoid wearing clothes. The weather changes very quickly here. It can be in the 80's one day and the 50's and very windy the next. One thing I've learned since living here is that I don't like the desert and wish I could afford to move, although I do love living in a nudist resort. It's the only place I can afford to live.
Footwear? Have to wear it for work and many other things, so I eliminate it when possible. Especially when I'm naked! Which is frequently I've never once gotten a disease or infection by being barefoot. Occasional splinters, cuts etc, but they heal. And not being enclosed in shoes, I don't get foot fungus or other problems. And it simply feels good.
