LOL Thus far, that isn't one of my bad habits. I'm not making any promises for the future. Except...I'm quite sure my nose will be warm if/when...:mickey:
thats weird.. lol that must feel weird on their teeth.. why dont u get them a ball or a toy or something...
Our dog is attracted to the flat rocks I brought home from the river. She scoots them all over. I think it's because she can't pick them up.
i called my dog... she comes running inside... rock in mouth.. i say no rocks... she drops it.. then gives me those eyes... and licks my fingers.. this i cannot win.. lol shit
Just more evidence that dogs helped build the pyramids.. "We built that shit".. if you think about it, dog shit is in the shape of a pyramid
that dog looks uncomfortable and constipated maybe it should eat some grass.. then tell my dog to leave the rocks alone..
Weird thought - but maybe it's because of something she's lacking in her diet like a mineral deficiency? Like when pregnant women eat weird shit like cigarette ashes, dirt, etc.
Well, she knows they're rocks, and she knows that she's not supposed to have them. That could make it worse. My dog obsessively licks people, particularly in the face. Having various people try to stop her and say various things about it has REALLY reinforced it, and they refuse to be consistent with my instructions when im not there, which obviously can't help any. But now it's a bigger thing than it otherwise ever would have been, I think. Turning away and ignoring her or even giving the other dog attention helps and fixes it pretty fast, but people not being consistent and scolding her, has really fucked things up. My point is, when you attach a name to something that a dog moderately likes, and try to prevent the dog from doing that thing, it seems like it can backfire, and make the dog realize how much it REALLY wants that thing, even when it might not care very much until you made it a battle. I don't have much of a solution. My personal reaction is to try to downplay it, while still not making it okay -- it's no big deal, but she won't get attention or preferential treatment when doing something that's not okay.
Yeah, what if you just calmly take the rock away from her without saying anything...no emotion...and just keep doing that every time?
My Dog Laddie Black Lab/Border Collie cross,my best mate for 14 years, had this habit of picking up anything & carrying it for miles. I mean the bigger the better-huge police traffic cones, a six foot tree. Once he picked up a detached leg from a childs Baby doll toy, refused to put it down & leave it,it looked like a real childs leg sticking out from his jaws! Drew some comments from people we passed! Otherwise he was the perfect companion. If Laddie saw a stray Kitten or Puppy he'd try to adopt it & protect it. He was very protective of my wife & young son, real gentleman of a Dog but so laid back seeming to fear nothing & no one. I liked him & admired his charicter & not a day goes by,though its 20 years since he passed, that I don't wish he was with me now.
