If you wanna see another movie that seemingly emulates the psychedelic experience, download a movie called 'Mind Game', was 2004 I think.

It's an anime, but it's done by IMO the best animation studio still running right now (studio4c) and one of the best up-and-coming directors in japan. So it's not typical run of the mill japanese stuff, it's very unique. It's easily one of my favorite movies, of any medium or from any country.

I know this thread is old, but is there still anyone out there wanting to discuss Jodorowsky?
His films are such a feast for the eyes and the mind... I also just finished reading his book on psychomagic where he explains the importance of LSD and mushroom trips and how everyone should do it at least once in a lifetime to overcome inner boundaries. Anyone else read anything of his?

I was happy to see that this thread was brought back to the surface. I’ve only seen El Topo and The Holy Mountain, but I love them both. I think Jodorowski had a very unique voice/style as a filmmaker. I love El Topo even though it makes me terribly uncomfortable to watch, but I prefer the aesthetics of The Holy Mountain. I haven’t seen any of these in a couple of years; I think a re-watch is in order. I keep seeing they have Santa Sangre on Netflix and keep saying I will watch it, but like when taking psychedelics I need to be mentally prepared or it needs to be the right time, so I haven’t.

I remember reading about him in some kind of newspaper magazine and how he was very much influenced by this female painter, who was very eccentric to say the least and also his passion for Tarot. I’ve never read any of his books, but that’s something that I will look out for. I find his art just as interesting as his person.

Jodorowski is on my list of psychedelic pioneers, we were just talking about him this weekend with some friends and the urge to explore more of his work is now awaken.
