I might be moving into a nudist flatshare next month... It's a four room flat and there's already three living there - 2 girls and one guy, all nudists and in their mid 20's...

Anyone got any experiences of this or similar?

Enjoy the freedom to be naked at home in front of others.

It's a fun arrangement and very common. My home is 3km from a large university and lots of homes nearby are rented/leased out to students. Three doors up a small house with 2 bedrooms is rented to an identical party (2 guys/1 girl) and they are nudists; I met all of them at the nudist beach last summer; one studies engineering, one medicine and the other earth sciences — an eclectic mix but very efficient and organised with a LOT of study and research. After a day doing all that of course you'd want to strip! They've been nudists since their young years (now early to mid-20s). One room is set aside for study (computers, a huge number of reference books etc) leaving only one room: they squeezed in a queen bed and share that — absolutely unabashed by the necessity. I trust it will be a rewarding experience for everybody — that age is the best time for naturism as maturity and responsibility is taking hold, and that is important.

Another arrangement would be for the flat to be clothes optional. I do know of one hippie rainbow house in NZ which allows casual nudity of the residents. The reality is that we are talking about sunny summer conditions and only one of the flatmates is regularly naked. He would spend most of the weekend naked as conditions permitted, reading, cooking, washing, Tai Chi, welcoming friends and various rainbows, as children played and his other flatmates carried out their regular tasks. This "right" apparently applies to friends of the house (guests), though the operative word is "apparently".

Great to know our Kiwi compatriots are in on the scene too, no matter the weather. Just to mention it, in 2006 while photographing Thunder Creek Falls near Haast Pass, two internationals jumped out of their campa, stripped (no matter a busload of Japanese tourists got more than they bargained for) and frolicked in the "spanner water!" , soon moving under the torrent of the falls themselves. Dunno if I'd do the same; the water everywhere in NZ is a blast of frigidity!

I live in Sydney and looking at moving out next year, about time too at 27... moved out before briefly but had to move back :(

Fairly new to the nudist thing, been to some nude beaches last summer and loved it. How does one go about finding like minded flatmates in such a stuck up place as Syd??

TommyTom, move to Nimbin. Sydney is passé. Though in Nimbin, there's no chance of wandering the main drag naked (but a sarong if nothing else is fine), but it's heaps more nudist-friendly in all the homes of people who make it home. Only problem is the semi-permanent blue-green haze (pot)!!

On this topic there was an ad. posted on the NZ online trading site Trademe last year for a flatemate for a 3 bedroomed house in Hamiliton which included the following "we have a very casual, social lifestyle and like to always have fun from nudity to fireballs..."

I share with a couple and one other girl. That are not naturists but are fine with me being nude all the time which is great. My ex housemate and her girlfriend who live in Bristol are not naturists either but when I go to visit them for the weekend they are cool with me being nude around them. It's great that non naturists can be so open minded. They all understand that being naked is part of who I am. Cool that you are going to share with other naturists. That's great :)
