Is my aging hippie friend interested in me?

Hm, I see 'kiddo' as not a good sign when it comes to sexual attraction.
Even a "darlin'" might be more affectionate.

Listen love, all guys, young or old LOVE having a good looking girl on their arm. Even if he'd never try anything that doesn't mean he doesn't love the attention you're giving him.
It makes him feel like he's still attractive, interesting and young when he's got this doe-eyed 18 year old spending time with him.

However based on what you've said, I feel like he's drawn some pretty clear lines that he wants to be your friend, but probably won't try for anything more.
And if you try and force anything, you very well could ruin your friendship.

I'm sure he's into you on some level, but he probably feels like he shouldn't be into you because of the age difference between you two... I think it's a case of, if you're into it, he'd be totally into it, but if you're not into it than he probably feels a little weird for thinking about someone so much younger than him sexually... If you're really into it, invite him to hang out with you outside of work. But once you take that step, there's not a lot of room for turning back... On Sex and the City, Big called Carrie "Kiddo" all the time to poke fun at the fact he was maybe 10 years older than her. Totally could be sexual. I'd say the fact he doesn't have kids works in your favor, he doesn't have anyone to compare you to, i.e. "I can't be with someone my daughter's age..." or something like that.

Edit - I guess I assumed he didn't have kids since he was never married... he may... Also didn't realize how old this thread is- OP probably worked things out by now.

 

I love how diff people in this thread all think they know the answer-his motives and feelings... based on this thread. Because honestly, I read the whole thread and it could be either way. Only way you're gonna find out is to spend more time w him..
