Hi, I just made a hip forums account to share this experience I had so am not sure if I'm in the right section or anything, so bare with me :)

I had the weirdest experience last night (may or may not have been under the influence of some substances)

watched this http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xpxj1b_the-secret-life-of-chaos_tech#.UavTOCspZ4U (BBC documentary "The Secret Life of Chaos")

And I was terrified man because there was so much knowledge that I just wasn’t ready for but everyone around me was just laughing like yeah it’s beautiful, but I was freaking the fuck out and my brain was expanding too big for my head and it was just terrifying but funny so I was alternating between laughing fits and screaming fits

It felt like some sort of conspiracy or cult, like this was the answer to the universe that I was being pulled into. and what baffled me most was that it was a BBC documentary and I just couldn’t comprehend how they could put that up so just anyone could see it?! Normal people are not supposed to know this sort of thing. it was too powerful for me to accept. And every time someone said “Mandelbrot” or I saw that pattern I’d just start screaming and run away from them.

I had an interpretation and an understanding of this whole Mandelbrot thing, but couldn’t describe it or understand if it was real. I tried to ask my friends if they were thinking/seeing the same thing I was, but I just couldn’t communicate with them. They just seemed too casual and relaxed about it that I felt they weren’t experiencing what I was seeing.

Before watching that documentary, my friend showed me this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=foxD6ZQlnlU after some bong hits just as “something trippy”. I was just buzzing out to it on the big TV screen until she said “it’s the equation to the universe man” and I suddenly saw that it was infinite, and represented all. every point we passed as we zoomed in closer to the pattern represented a moment and place in time and space that could’ve been and is. I felt like once I knew this, I couldn’t stay in my allocated place and time anymore and I was slipping away from reality, “loosing my mind”.

Can you guys give me your opinion on this docco/my Mandelbrot obsession(?)? You can just watch half of it I don’t think I even finished it.

dude... there's like 1 universe... like 1 sum total of all the shit that exists... 1 existence... and everything that exists is a part of the sum total of existence... like there's 1 existence and it's made up of all the stuff that exists... so all the stuff that exists is a part of existence... a fraction of existence... but the most you can say about existence with any certainty is there's 1 of it...

...and if there's 1 existence and everything that exists is a fraction of that 1 existence...

...everything that exists is fractions of 1... to get all the bitty bits of existence you take the 1 and divide it and divide it and divide it...

    ...it's all in the numbers.

    ...so true.

    :)

I think unedited makes some valid points here.

    I stopped reading after "dude"

Sorry, but any Yorkshireman saying 'dude' I cannot take seriously :biker:

  10. I enjoyed the documentary. Thanks for the suggestion.

I can see how it might have been a little freaky if you were high. The only thing that annoyed me was the emphasis at the end on how chaos is thoughtless and mindless. When I look at morphogenesis I see just the opposite, how alive the universe is.
