:biker: What all do you do on your computer that doesn't require internet use? I use the calculator. I also have been known to utilize the chess game against the cpu. Every thing else I require the net to do. :2thumbsup:
I don't have a computer, but on my phone there's one game that I play that doesn't use the Internet, Grand Theft Auto. Besides that, I often use the calculator, clock, camera, and an app that converts all sorts of units. And a "To do list" app. Edit: and music, I play lots of music
The things I do on my computer without the Internet: play music and films, write and read texts, spreadsheets and presentations, use calculator, edit pictures, play games.
I do a lot on the computer without the internet, or so I think..... There are a lot of programs that do want a connection even if it's not used in the actual application. Adobe products, Apple products, Microsoft, Autodesk, all like to be able to "phone home". You can run the software without a connection, but you may get a bitch message, often not. Lot's of games have adopted an online verification check, often invisible to the end user, unless it fails the check. Personally I abhor the growing trend of "software as service" bullshit. I want to be able to hold the media in my hand and install it myself. And Cloud Storage, who's the numbnuts that came up with that one? Sure for a corporate enterprise it works great, especially an international corp., but a private home user??? Fuck that, I want to know exactly where my data is at and exactly who has access to it. So if any of you use an "online data storage" feature, better think twice about it. /rant
I love the cloud. I store a lot of music on my phone, as well as pictures, and phone numbers. I also log all of my side work hours into my phone, and use it to keep track of the jobs I'm doing.I'm also pretty rough on my phones, and tend to destroy them at least once a year. Before I used the cloud it would be a very big ordeal every time I destroyed/lost a phone. Now all of my music and the info I need is there when I need it. Phone or no phone. But then again I'm not saving any personal info or anything that could be useful to anyone but me.
