Ever met a Psychopath or do you know one ?

After researching mental illness, in diagnostic criteria, the psychopaths main diagnostic trait is the lack of empathy and remorse. That is the key feature that will be present for an accurate diagnosis.

They are extremely dangerous btw. I haven't read all the posts so I may be repeating someone else.

 

Yes, he was a friend, he attacked me one day which sent me to the hospital, then he was arrested for that. I know he is free now, I have seen him. I do not hold grudges and hope he does better in life. The way I see it is you do not choose mental health issues, you are born that way.

The first one. 'Disgusting' might have been a little over the top. 'Unfair' might have been a more suitable word to use.
If it's simplistic and it makes sweeping statements, I would wonder why you would post it.
It is the type of video that gets made by the people who want to call the e.g's they choose 'psychopaths'.

This one doesn't find the need to use so-called e.g's within popular culture.

odonII ,I regret posting that OP video for the reasons both you & I gave & for the much better critique given by NoxiousGas . I was curious as to why you posted the G Bush Jnrs visit to those kids in Africa,but its no big deal.

This is not the politics section,people have joined this thread to share,discuss & learn about the subject condition. Its not about argument & debate or attacking a poster for a poor choice of video for Gods sake! Have you any contributions that you can make to the discussion that does not rely upon having a go at others-rhetorical question I'm not inviting further argument!

 

I posted that video because if I had put a critique of a 'Samaritan' underneath the same video, as in posted a video of people that contributed to the world, and cared - would it have been less valid? The answer is what matters.
I'm supposed to think because the e.g's used are used, they are 'psychopaths'.

 

Or,maybe more likely to be Sociopaths-given that the environment that they are in encourages & rewards that behavior type. Of course if you're a born Psychopath you've a head start !

I know a guy that killed his brother's dog because he didnt like it. He also beat an opposum to death with a shovel. He would have raped a girl last year, but i happened upon him before he could get into her. I beat his ass and got his fat ass arrested. He got some revenge on me a few months back by fighting dirty and breaking my collar bone. If given the opportunity, he would kill me. I would probably do the same about him, though. I dont give 2nd chances to rapists, strict murderers, or child molesters. He falls into two of those categories, maybe all three...

 

Let's just sell sex offenders into the sex trade, yeah?

These are dangerous people and you need to think very differently because they don't play by normal rules.
There is no treatment for them and it is a standing joke amongst those who work in this area, the shortest chapter or section of a paper will be on treatment.

Generally if you are dealing with them things will get very bad before you can turn the situation around.

...denying any wrongdoing, ever, at all, totally innocent, vows to clear his name...

...dude was lying. Lying his ASS off. (just in case any site admins worry about legal thingummies, he was lying and he admitted so in court, and got sentenced for the crime he's denying here).

But I can remember at the time seeing this live and thinking how impressive he was, keeping a straight face like that. It's breath-taking that he's so... totally blanking the truth out... almost, almost convincing.

He's deffo got psychopathic tendencies (and he's from the apparently most decent mainstream party in British politics... the others are REALLY bad).

i was at my friends wedding , posh affair his family and i met one of his brides professors there .
probably not the right moment but i always pick people's brains.
He did mention he had done research on these people and when shown extreme images there is no response a per normal people.

My guess is that those who are not actually psychopathic are sociopathic,ie, the point roamy made earlier,that Sociopathy is very like psychopathy but manifests as a result of the environment you're in & its influences upon the person. Power corrupts & all that.

Again,if being a born psychopath ,seeking power,you've got a head start !

 

I'd like to think there are a few honest politicians around. Well, not totally honest since it seems bending the truth at least to some degree is a pre requisite to winning election. But surely there must be a few who are in office who are there to improve life for the people they represent and govern effectively?

 

I hope so. But in the systems we have, the 'good ones' are at a disadvantage to the 'lying bastards'.

The liars and cheats are more likely to get further and attain greater power.

The system is weighted against the decent lot. Power is seized by those who desire power. Those who desire to do good, are too good to to the bad things they need to, to get power.

It's possibly why our national societies and world society in general, are all screwed.

(It's also why I'm a peace-loving socialist liberal, who thinks we need to kick the sh*t out of anyone who doesn't agree with our ideals.)

 

Psychopaths or Sociopaths or 'Type A' personalities are 'cool' & 'sexy' in our culture. They're rarely idealists,more typically pragmatists,they 'get things done'. Thatcher & Blair were deliberately Presidential. The Individual,the personality cult,has been imported from USA as has winner takes all styles of leadership. In the UK we've seen centerist politics become increasingly a competition for center-right ground.

Doubtless there are a lot of decent folk in politics trying to make the world a better place but I have to agree that the system ,the methods of gaining power & exercising it,the readiness of much of the media to support a selfish agenda,leaves it wide open to shrewd manipulation by the unprincipled.
