A conversation i was having with Kevin, i mean you have to look at the guy who puts sharks and stoof in formadahide.. that wasn't a hoax, the guy who used human bodies and animals and cover them in the wax stuff and people walked round it that wasn't a hoax these days its all about provoking a reaction in art its not about beauty and apprecaition any more its about kicking up a fuss you know, most artists today can't even draw? aye, to be heard in the ever crowded world there are so many tools nowadays realy talent is hard to find when semi-skilled artists use modern tools this is what i talk about a lot, how someone can pick up a can and you know twsit it funny and put it in the centre of a stark room with a spot light on it and say taa daaah, art. I guess its insulting that people find it so easy to get away with things these days, it just feels like arts complete lost hope. there is creativity and there is art What do you think, has art gone to far now? Does it need to get back to its routes, do artisits need the skills of the masters or is it just opening art up to people of all talents. I don't know any more... what do you think?
I think anyone can be an artist. If someone sees a twisted can as art... then to them it is art and they are an artist. Art is such a personal thing i find it insaulting that people would say if you cant paint like the masters you are no artist. Thats because my "art" ... anyone could do it.... its piss easy.... but that doesnt stop it from being art.
art is somebodies own personal expression and perspective of world issues and emotions.traditional paintings were not done to express but were usually comitioned to show wealth and ownership of something,also that was back in the itme wen pjhotographic imagry was not crewated,wen photraphy really ht off artist had2 reinvent themselves which is how the art new art movements started to pop up. artist began to express and experiment rather than try and make a perfect copy of something! art is something that maybe the artist will only ever understand because its all about them tryin to comunicate something,or express osmetihng in theyre own unique way.
i think that anything can be art...some art is nice to look at..some is shocking...but they can all be taken many different ways...when i look at art my first thought is what does it signify? what is it symbolic of? pictures of ponds and mountains are nice to look at...but they aren't my thing really...i want something that i can think about. the best plays i've seen were the same...it's not immediately obvious what's going on...but once you look at it as a whole the story comes out and it makes sense in context... i think art needs to have something to say. so a twisted can can be art...as long as it means something...
In bad mood last night, posted it after that whole animal thing. I'm a bit manic and unpredictable moodwise recently, unfortunatly you all had to read a post which was an example of it... *ahem* :& But, you think aslong as that artist is expressing something through it is art? Even if she's going to hideious lengths to express whatever it is she is expressing. I think i mainly mean that piece and the ones which use humans and animals in them. I just can't stand them personally, take pictures of animals and humans yeah fine... but to go to these lengths is sickening. I went a bit over board, but still.. i can't accept what she did as art, its just cruelty.
The point is you dont have to accept that its art for it to BE art.... as long as SOMEONE thinks its artism or sees that artistic beauty or intent in it then its art to that person. thats the beauty of art.
Thats not fair! I don't want other people seeing artistic value in anything I do. Perish the thought, I'm going to start flushing extra hard when nature calls.
i know i've said it before...but to me if i make something think it's art...regardless of what other people think of it... i know i'm rubbsih at drawing and painting...but i like what i make...so i think it's art...it doesn't mean that other people have to think it is...i think there needs to be a different word for it... art is all well and good...but something that you look at that blows your head off is like...art+1... i don't know a better way to put it...sorry...
