climbing up on my soap box...

one of the most interesting (and likely, IMO) shtf scenarios is an EMP, whether human caused or solar projectile vomit. if induced current blows out the transformers, how long will it be until you can replace it?

its exactly why preparedness is smart, and personal. there are crazy preppers, and there are people who prep for the very unlikely scenarios as well as the most likely. sometimes they seem to go overboard, but only because you probably arent planning for scenario Q14, maybe you are just prepared for the lights to go out. maybe you are ready to bug out in case of fire, which knows no borders. maybe you have a cache of survival equipment and a bug-out bag stocked enough for you to hike to it. maybe you practice hunting and fishing and foraging, maybe you craft your own tools in the most primitive ways. its personal. i dont eat much, but my husband and son have hollow legs. im on a regular medication. we have pets we are responsible for. my plan is different than your plan. but you MUST have a plan. even if its just copies of important documents and pictures at a secondary location. be safe

I have enough dry food to last for weeks or months probably. Not because I prep, but becauae I always buy rice in bulk and always have 3 types. Plus dried beans, flour, sugar, etc. Could cook with propane on our camping stove if we needed to.

"Entrance Requirements are used as a guideline for success in this Apprenticeship program. They are recommended, not required."

Requirements aren't required? :D I've also found 2 spelling mistakes on this site... its BCIT's website, I thought that was a good school... They need to read over their info maybe

Ortus, I think it is absolutely wonderful that you seem to be seriously looking into this apprenticing, that you've found something you're interested in pursuing. IMO that is half the battle - finding something you're really interested in.

We keep lots of milk cartons filled with water, and LOTS of candles. Canned food a'plenty...need to get more dried food.

At least before everything was digital
You could lose power and still go to store....
    Cash registers would work,
    everything didn't shut down completely
    Like it does today ....
