Very well written. I'm impressed! I love Greek mythology. I read a lot about that, and Hindu dieties.
Thank you There are several more ancient stories in which a royal child is left to die for whatever reason.. I can't think of any that I know off the top of my head like that though. I *love* the story of Croesus expansion of the Lydian empire and eventual fall by the hands of Cyrus II, as they become the best of friends afterwards and it is just the most fantastical story, very long and complicated and ultimately true (though much of the events and details are certainly exaggerated by Herodotus, or rather by those from whom Herodotus received the oral traditions; Cyrus and Croesus lived a generation earlier than Herodotus).
Awesome! Who's your favorite Diety? Mine is Ganesha remover of obstacles. I love reading about all the incarnations, and connections between them all.
Nice. A friend of mine sent me a sarong/prayer shawl from Kathmandu that has the Ganesha Om Mantra printed on it.
Well, my favorite would be Laxmi, whom Aura and my daughter's middle name is taken after! As far as the Greeks go, it's a three-way tie between Apollo, Artemis and Athene, but I am also very fond of Hermes and Persephone as well. The Oracles at Delphi speaking for Apollo through trance are probably the closest version of an idealized women, of what women should strive to be, to my mind; I realize this is ancient history but it's how the women lived that interests me most.
Who doesn't love Parvati? She was so hot that she inspired the writing of the Kama Sutra! :reddevil: I couldn't have a car with that name; it would offer its tailpipe in creative ways to every other car.
When I was a teenager I called my father's '62 Plymouth wagon the White Wonder, 'cause I could blow away 327 Chevy' four barrels and 390 Ford 4 barrels with it and all it had was a little Carter two barrel carb. Blew out the freeze plugs twice on it from over reving. (If anyone knows what a "freeze plug" is.)
