Ok so I no longer know where to turn because I've been to the doctor's twice but I haven't been honest, I haven't stopped smoking weed. About three weeks ago I developed a slight cough, with a little bit of productiveness of phlegm. I assumed I was coming down with a simple cold blah blah blah, and of course I wasn't going to stop smoking weed. So a few days passed and it got worse, I was suggested by someone it was Allergies, and indeed the past few weeks have been the first of pollen. In our area it has been VERY HIGH. It just kept getting worse so about a week in I visit the nurse practitioner at my school, who suggests it is Allergy congestion and gives me Claritin D and Cough Syrup. Helps temporarily of course, but I do not get better I'm assuming now because I didn't stop smoking weed. By now I have noticed increased coughing while outdoors. One day I am required to spend good amount of time outdoors and then later that night I realize the room I was staying in was dusty or full of allergens that were making my cough the worse it was the whole time. The next day I traveled an hour back home to visit the doctor. It was then determined I had an infection I was prescribed AntiBiotics, tussionex, and albuterol to open my lungs. Tussionex helps and over a week the antibiotics definitely removed some infection and the junk that was then in my lungs. Feels better, but cough doesn't go away, still sensitive to allergens outdoors and in my room. Cough Cough Cough Smoke Smoke Smoke week later I'm back at the doctors about the continued cough. Tested for Asthma, nope, Pneumonia, nope, Plasma, nope. I get represcribed Tussionex, but with a Steroid Inhaler flovent. Told I have post infection inflammation. Here I am 4 days later almost out of tussionex, using both inhalers, getting only temporary relief. Last night I smoked quite a bit of weed blunt, and bowls. So my coughing is way worse today. I finally stopped being lazy and made some edibles that are working. But what state could my lungs be in? What damage could I have done smoking in this time? Should I visit another doctor, admit I've been smoking weed and get some help without smoking? Do you think I can get more Tussionex when I run out in two days if my cough continues?
I always tell the doctor I smoke. They help you anyways and are not there to judge. However even if its tough i would legitimately not smoke for like a week or two. The doctor is going to tell you the same thing, not just because "drugs are bad mmkk" but because thats the next logical thing to try. So do that, if still no change then go back to the doc
Can you stop smokin' for a few weeks. If you can, then approach your doctor with that and ask for assistance. You need to level with the doctor who is treating you, or do you think they can read your mind. If you can't stop smokin' for a few weeks you still need to tell your doctor. I only suggest stopping as that is obviously going to aggravate any respiratory symptoms. I am not meaning that as judgment but they can not treat you if you do not tell them exactly what is going on. You have not done so. It may be a combination of all including environmental but you will need a doctor to either extend the prescription or to investigate further. Good luck and I hope that you are feeling better soon.
Ok add on....sorry Do not see another doctor, go back to the orginal doctor that you saw as they have a more accurate history of what is going on and what they have done. Lordy at this point if you are having trouble breathing, get it solved and see the doctor who saw you at the start of this.
Hello, NO dont tell the doc ya use weed. Not in your state! You will be told to quit(and they will test you off and on 4 ever) and never get the proper care untill you do. They can fuck w/ your insurence, and furthur down the rd. any real heavy stuff that comes up, it can cost you more than just money. I strongly suggest NO BLUNTS. A vaporizer would be better. But you'd be better off not smoking it for awhile. As for the cure, try osha root. I may have even spelled it wrong. I have a medicine woman in NM. who sends it to me. I dont know if ya can get it in a health food store or not. Ya make a tea from it, smell the vapors, drink at least one cup. Ya can suck on a piece too. It is very strong smellin, tastin, like celery! It helps me alot. I used it to heal up a brother this past winter. And he had been havin trouble since last summer. He finally got healed when visitin me this past Feb. I am gonna make some calls, and see how we can get some to you. I'll be back here later,,,, as for dust, pollen,, do ya have an air cleaner ya can plug in? They are not to expensive these days. And stay away from any papers, or not super clean bowls. That old sticky stuff left over isnt good either, a clean pipe is better. And again, a vaporizer is safer as well. Be back soon, maybe I will have to have you private message me your address, if I have to have some sent to you. Rubbing vicks on your chest does help!
Ok, it will be later today before another sister can come on and she knew more than me about other stuff that works. Hang in there,,,
Yes a vaporizer or edibles would be just what the doctor ordered, if you told him you smoke and he was cool. Vaporizers are great although I do not use mine as much as I should. I like the mechanics of smoking too much. But vaped weed is very tasty and will produce a great buzz, just takes a while to get used to.
I wish I had a vape. Luvione, you sound very caring thank you very much. That stuff sounds miracle like, I would appreciate that much so. As for telling the doctor, I am not too worried, as someone said they aren't there to judge. If they pull any of that kind of stuff I would just have to back out. The edibles work quite fine. Not sure if I am going to see the doctor. If it persists and/or I need to see him to get another prescription I will. For now, just one day of smoking has helped a little, only a little considering the night before, so much smoking damaged my lungs and throat a lot. I can feel that they are extremely sore...STILL.
To Sooth your throat drink some Slippery Elm Tea. Oregon Grape 3=3X a day Lobilia 2= 3x a day Inhailent= Take 1 pint of Laird's Apple Jack, remove cap and huff on the bottle. Huff for about 10 minutes 4x a day. Anything the doctor gives you with the excepyion of antibiotics will just mask the symtems. When symtems are supressed there are just that, supressed. Not cured. The problem still exsits. The Oregon Grape is very strong lung defender and can be found in most any health food/herb shop. Since you know how your lungs got in the condition they are in, you know what you have to do to get them back in shape. Altho, I dont think that smoking weed caused your problem. MJ is used in asthma suffers.. You dont give much background info on if you smoke tobacco, huff gas/glue or what. I have never know anyone to get a lung infection frrom smoking weed. I think you were exposed to an irritant that caused an infection in your lung and smoking pot irritates it but is Not the cause. I would suggest laying off the weed for a week or so untill your cough settles down. If you cant do that, well it's on you. If you came in saying you had a bleeding problem and that every time you stabed yourself with a knife you would bleed more, I would tell you to put the knife down. If you didnt and bled to death, who's fault would that be?!? It's up to you if you heal or not. You have to do the work. I do hope you decide to heal. But you are the only one that can to it. Bright Blessings sh
i'm sorry you had to learn this the hard way. i'm most likely pissing my breath away here again. yet, the fact remains... marijuana is every bit as bad as tobacco. i have found, that both stoners and tobacco users love to live in denial. some people can smoke both of those things as hard and as heavy as all hell their whole lives and, never, every have problems with them. the vast majorty of us, can't get away with that type of behavior! some people smoke just one cigarette or, joint and, they suffer major damages to their health for life. marijuana is of the chienapods family of plants, and chienapods are a major allergen. do you need to give up "loco weed" for the rest of your life? probably not. quit smoking both loco weed and tobacco untill the doc tells you, that you are in good health again. if you keep smoking either loco weed or tobacco until your health is restored (if it is restored!) ... you will need to face your an addict, and will need to find help for your addiction. it is best you get help on your own before, you fuck up big time, and the law gets involved. belive me, you will fuck up somewhere down the road and, when the law gets involved, they will fuck you over quite well also. good luck to you. i wish you the best.
Vapes arent always a good option. The dry vapor can irritate a cough quite a bit. I'd just take a break from smoking. Its not that hard.
It's definitely an allergen, where males grow anyway. Ive never heard of it being in that family of plants, though. Im pretty sure it's family is Cannabaceae...
