I say this more for anyone else reading this thread, but with stuff like Shigella its totally irrelevant whether they have had sex with anyone else because they'll contract it from contaminated meat, surfaces, cleaners not doing a thourough job. When you go the toilet a small amount of fecal matter spreads through the air onto surfaces surrounding the area including you. Why you are supposed to wash your hands before as well as after going the toilet.

I can see what you're saying, but it's up to the individual to weigh up the risk against the perceived benefit to them.
