Sorry, but I have seen too many idiots on motorcycles who think the rules of the road somehow don't apply to them, so perhaps I am biased, but I find my sympathy to be lacking. I am not saying that all people on motorcycles are like this, just many I have seen.

  3. I'm a cyclist and am sick to the back teeth of car drivers (not all I must say) giving me a hard time. I always stick to the rules but so many car drivers don't. What bit of "indicate" don't they get ????

They shouldnt be allowed on the road, bicycles do far more damage to the environment than cars do

To me it seems a matter of getting used to/refusing to get used to. Here in the netherlands bicycles, bicycle paths/areas and bicycle traffic signs are so integrated in the traffic car drivers really have no choice watching out for cyclists :p But since we're all used to it here it proves to be no big issue. Of course we still have people behaving stupid in traffic but they seem to be equally divided among cars and bicycles :D

People are in too big a hurry or texting/distracted/drunk for roads to be safe for cyclists. It doesn't help if you live somewhere where they haven't planned the roads to accommodate bicycles. I ride my bike on the sidewalks, rather get dirty looks from pedestrians than get smashed to bits by some SUV.

i cycled a rickshaw in central london for a while, there was kind of a rivalry between the rickshaws and the cab drivers (london cabbies are a strange breed) because the rickshaws performed the same service, but could go into pedestrianised areas to get fares and crowd the streets outside theatres and stuff. i used to hear a lot of stories about cab drivers deliberately forcing rickshaw drivers off the road late at night, and i heard them yelling a load of abuse at other drivers, mainly racist stuff (i was one of only two english rickshaw drivers operating at the time, it was predominantly a foreign trade.)

i've never had that bad of an experience with other road users while on my bike, but people i've known have had terrible ones, i know someone who was attacked by a driver at a set of lights, plenty of people who've been knocked off their bikes by drivers who werent paying attention and the son of a friend of my mum is in a permanent vegetative state because a careless driver sideswiped him and sent him into oncoming traffic, he shoulda been wearing a helmet. i wear an old fashioned racing bike helmet with a big fuck off metal plate in it since i heard that.

I'm a considerate driver and I watch out for people. There are a lot of drivers in cars that seem to be jerks about having to share the road though and I see them 'rear ending' cyclists. I don't do that. I keep room between us.

I don't like when motorcyclists seem to sneak up behind me and get really close to my door/rear view mirror. It startles me and seems if I jerked my car from being startled, I could hit them. Bicyclists I've encountered seem to be the ones with the attitude problem though. They get in the way sometimes and act like elitists. They seem to have a problem with sharing the road with cars. But I guess maybe they have that attitude because they have to deal with so many people driving that are indeed jerk offs.
