Come one then... I'd like you to nominate all your fave songs from 2004... Then we could make up one of those "Now That's What I Call HipForums 2004" compilations... Tee hee... Fly...
I'm never good at recalling songs of the year, especially at the end of the year when some of the songs you heard, you heard back 11 months ago. Possibly released this year: The Killers - Somebody Told Me Nellie McKay - Ding Dong OutKast - Hey Ya! (Keeps popping up on other lists for 2004, I still think it's rather good) Kelis - Milkshake (and subsequent singles. very impressed. album, not so good!) The Bees - "I have told you life's a worry and it's true..." Meng's 'songs attached to this year' seems like a better way of doing it really, it's gotta find some more accurate songs of the year for the individual... Toots and the Maytals - Pressure Drop Orbital - Chime Hyper Kinako - Toyko Invention Registration Office D!) The Beta Band - She's The One Paul McCartney - Live and Let Die Three of those relate to Glastonbury! Definitely 'live and let die' which puts me right back watching fireworks everytime I hear it. Not in the flashback sense though thank goodness.
Boulevard of broken dreams....greenday um...what else? Take me out....franz ferdinand The blowers daughter....Damien rice Roly.xxx
i'm not that into current music...but so far I've heard a lot of framnz ferdinand, the darkness (but not so much as last year), the zutons, Keane "somewhere only we know" and the rest of their songs...some decent stuff, but not enough to fill the speace and not allow shitty girl/boy bands that keep coming and doing the same fucking thing....it's endless...girls aloud...please die.
Bloc Party - "Helicopter" Interpol - "Slow Hands" I probably shouldn't admit it in mixed company but I really liked the Franz Ferdinand album and listened to it quite a lot... my mate did me a copy of Modest Mouse and assures me it's the best album of the year ... took me quite a while to admit to having lost the CD before I ever listened to it ...
The Reason Hoobastank.I'm not a perfect person There's many thing I wish I didn't do But I continue learning I never meant to do those things to you And so I have to say before I go That I just want you to know I've found a reason for me To change who I used to be A reason to start over new And the reason is you I'm sorry that I hurt you It's something I must live with everyday And all the pain I put you through I wish I could take it all away And be the one who catches all your tears That's why I need you to hear I've found a reason for me To change who I used to be A reason to start over new And the reason is you (x4) I'm not a perfect person I never meant to do those things to you And so I have to say before I go That I just want you to know I've found a reason for me To change who I used to be A reason to start over new And the reason is you I've found a reason to show A side of me you didn't know A reason for all that I do And the reason is you
are we talking about singles or just songs from any album that was released this year? Either way, here are my top 5 Franz Ferdinand - Darts of Pleasure The Walkmen - The Rat The Arcade Fire - Rebellion(lies) Modest Mouse - Black Cadalliacs Sonic Youth - Unmade Bed My favorite out of the bunch is the arcade fire. If no one has got their album "funeral", you should. Its the best debut album i have heard in a long time. [EDIT] - I forgot that franz ferdinand's album was also a debut, and i thought THAT was the great debut album i have heard in a loooong time...so the arcade fires album is the best debut album i have heard since franz ferdinands album debut...the point is, is that both albums are awesome and you should concider buying them!
Songs from this year that will remind me of this year (don't necessarily mean I like them all very much): Kelis - Milkshake Maroon 5 - This Love The Hives - Abra Cadaver Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out Razorlight - Golden Touch LA Symphony - Gonna Be Alright Older songs that possibly meant something and will remind me of this year: Jethro Tull - Look Into The Sun Depeche Mode - Only When I Lose Myself The Smiths - Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now Blondie - Here's Looking At You The Cardigans - For What It's Worth There could've been many many more but the list would be too long and I couldn't remember them all right now anyway... ~peacetulip.
Released this year: Alanis Morissette - Knees of my bees Dark Fortress - Iconoclasm omega Marduk - Hangman of Prague / Throne of rats Behemoth - Before the aeons came Enthroned - Vortex of confusion Iced Earth - Atilla Hope it doesn't have to be singles or I'd be 89% clueless.
Streets - Dry Your Eyes (not one of my favourite songs, but pretty much summed up early 2004 for me) Faithless - Mass Destruction Badly Drawn Boy - Year Of The Rat Levellers - Not In My Name (not released yet, but I missed Oasis to hear them play it live! [a fact I later related to Mark when I met him, upon hearing which he told me that I was precious!]) Eminem - Mosh (not usually a fan, but I gained some respect for him with this song) Band Aid 20 - I don't care what anyone says, this is my favourite song of the year, it gives me a warm feeling inside everytime I hear it....
