'I would further characterize it as a punch in the face to the middle class of America'

Are you Middle-class? Why the middle-class? Do they like to download more?

This is about way more than copyrights. Forbidding any laws regarding labeling of GM foods is another aspect.

I know. That bit was a joke. I am interested why he would think it was a punch in the face to the middle class of America. How do you know they are forbidding any labeling of GM foods?

They have the money, they own the politicians, they have the plans, they have our complacancy and they have ALL the time in the world to get done what they want done. If not this generation--the next. If not the next--then the next. This movement seemingly will continue until until they get the armed revolution they are "begging" for and deserve. Why would they stop? It's mostly always been the same--the struggle to control people goes on either by violence or by law. This whole country will one day look like the devastated areas of Detroit--except the enclaves of the 1%. UNLESS---------

The Obama administration has said that the TPP is a number one priority and that it's important that the treaty be finalized in December.

Well, the "final" secret sessions have just concluded in Singapore without an agreement.

So, I'm happy that this is not on the fast track, but I continue to be aghast at the lack of public protest of the secrecy and the leaked provisions that

    • Allow rich foreign investors to sue the USA and the states if they pass legislation that will hurt their future profits.
    • Prevent the USA from requiring labelling of GMO foods.
    • Force all countries to have the same strict copyright laws that the USA has.
    • Prop up the profits of pharmaceutical companies by forbidding any laws to reduce the price of medicine.
    • Enable Monsanto to dominate the world's farmers with their seed monopolies.

My opinion of Obama has gone down significantly during these secret negotiations. Why are they secret? Obviously, it's because it's only for the benefit of huge multinational corporations, not average citizens.

NAFTA was horrible for everyone except American corporations. But the typical western zombie consumer refuses to pay more for local products, even though they're just hurting themselves.

Everyone just keeps on getting shit on and begging for more.

In last nite's State of the Union address, Obama again pushed for fast-track authority for the TPP, altho he was careful not to call it "fast-track". To confuse the 99%, he called it bipartisan trade promotion authority. I voted for Obama, but I am terribly concerned that he is pushing so hard for a back-room secret deal that benefits only the 1%. It's NAFTA on steroids.

Every one of us should be writing to our representatives to get them to oppose fast-track. The American people have a right to know what is in this secret treaty and be able to change it. It is a coup by the giant corporations to overthrow democracy in the US and every other country that is part of the treaty.

If you are a liberal, you should be against it, because it is anti-labor, anti-democracy, anti-health and anti-environment.

If you are a conservative, you should be against it, because it establishes a real New World Order of mega multi-national corporations who will be granted many new rights, including the right to override our national sovereignty by allowing foreigners to sue American governments if they pass any laws that tend to reduce their profits.

Here are some of the consequences we know of

    • Offshore even more millions of American jobs and keep worker wages low

    • Free the banksters and Wall Street from needed oversight and regulation

    • End “Buy American” and “Buy Local” policies needed to create jobs and rebuild our economy

    • Decrease access to affordable generic medicines

    • Ban food labeling and bring more unsafe food and products into the US

    • Continue the push for the privatization of needed services, including education, water and wastewater treatment, transportation, and more

    • Perpetuate exploitation of “dirty fuels,” and make it much harder to develop renewable green energy

PLEASE, PLEASE pressure your representatives. They need to hear from you, since almost no one even knows what is going on. It seems the only ones who are opposed are the House Democrats.

Well, the silence is deafening. I was hoping to get people riled up about this terrible situation, but it appears that most people here are much more interested in their masturbation techniques than in making the world a better place. I think it's sad.

Yeah eyes all glaze over when I try to talk about this to my friends too.

    http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/newreply.php?do=postreply&t=453043

On Jan. 14, 2014, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit struck down the Federal Communications Commission’s Open Internet Order in the case of Verizon v. FCC.

Translation: This court just killed Net Neutrality.

Internet service providers are now able to block any website or app they want. That means they can decide what you can do and where you can go online.

I care very little about different masturbation techniques and I've been riled up about this for a while now. ;)

Seriously, it pisses me off but I think it will pass because the elite want it to. To hell with the rest of the world, I guess. Maybe this will be the straw that breaks the camels back.
