I hate the principal of speeding tickets in general. But I do agree you should go slow in some areas. However if in those areas I speed and hit a kid or another car or anything that could be a crime ok charge me with something. But a ticket for speeding means there was no damage.

Things like this are just a revenue steam for the city. They make criminals of people who do not commit crime. If a cop's supervisor thinks he has not written enough tickets that cop is in allot of trouble. If he does not produce better numbers it could mean his job. There is pressure to make your city money.

There are less accidents in Germany then here and they have highways with no speed limit. The difference is they are trained to handle a car at high speed. We are told speed is dangerous. No operating a machine you are not trained for is dangerous. Allot of American cars here are not built to run at high speed since our limit is 70. But a German car was designed for you to be doing 170 and to stop quickly doing it. It can be done.

i got a speeding ticket on my drive out east... 117 km/h in a 90km/h zone. fucking quebec highways and their low speed limits. 95% of the highway in new brunswick and nova scotia was 110 km/h.

i think that i only got the ticket because i was from out of province and he knows that i won't come back to quebec to fight it. i was going with the flow of traffic but happened to be the last car in line. usually in ontario they will say you were going a bit slower than you were, which lowers the fine, but not this time. $130 fine, bah.

oh well, could be worse, i suppose.

OPP has passed me many times to get the guy at the front even though all of us are following his/her pace

 

no aircraft here, just a single cop sitting in a hard to see spot around a curve. i think he most likely only grabbed me because i was out of province... easy to tell since i'm the only one on the road with a front license plate. i feel like i stand out a lot in quebec and in nova scotia.

 

They can only get one car, so it's up to the cop front or back.
