Kids/teens pose on fb to look "bad" for other kids/teens.

You'd be hard pressed to find a teen or man around here that didn't have a knife on him.

I used to carry a knife on me all the time...especially when I went out alone. just sayin'...(I probably would have gotten myself stabbed with it had I ever felt I needed to use it.)

I hope eggs is right and that cop pulls some serious time...there's just no excuse for killing that boy.

So are we saying that a person should be shot to death for his Facebook page? Another reason not to have a Facebook page I guess.

But anyway, is there any reason for a person with a knife, on an empty bus, to be shot to death by someone standing in the street 15' away? Is there really any reason for them to have even drawn their guns at that point? He wasn't a threat to anyone but himself at that point.

Shouldn't you at least wait till he got off the bus so he had a sporting chance of running the 15' between you before you shot him.

And what's up with shooting him 9 times and then tazering him? If they had tazers why not just tazer him? I mean aren't you suppose to tazer first and shoot later? And after shooting him 9 times I would say he is already pretty much immobilized, tazering him at that point, I guess, is just "making sure". [IMG]

At least on this thread, I don't think anyone (except maybe maelstrom) thinks that the cop should not be charged with murder.

I don't think anyone has said that. I think that Yatim could have been subdued with non-lethal force, and in any case, there is no justification for shooting him 9 times. If the cop tazered him afterwards too, it's even more evidence that the Forcillo is psycho.

His fb page doesn't make him guilty of anything or justify his shooting. It does counter the clean-cut smiling image of him presented in the article's photograph, and the claim that he was just trying to live the Canadian dream when he was cut down.

It's still murder, but the choir-boy image presented of Yatim is false.

Yes, no one said that but his Facebook page was brought up and I couldn't think of any reason to do so or why it would affect why he was shot. Thus my question.

Also he pulled a knife, so I don't think anyone is saying that he was a "choir-boy" but even if he was a raving lunatic, that doesn't mean you empty your gun into him from 15' away, especially since you could have just tazered him in the first place.

e7m8 said something about the the way Sammy is being portrayed as "rosy"...i put up the link to show him theres plenty of info out there if he wants to form a more accurate opinion about Sammy rather than just going by the "rosiness" the reporters and protesters are putting out

some say he was exposing himself to strangers on the bus before the incident...there's lot's of things being left out of the story but i agree of course that lethal force was absolutely unnecessary here.

In Fort Collins Colorado The Cops shot Matt Worden out of a second story balcony, because he was holding a knife and had cut himself with it. He was drunk, so they killed him.

Police are a cult of their own now..

Even the Highway Patrol have an attitude these days, some one said who had a friend who was a cop that they seem to get picked if they have attitude.

Ordinary people complain of the lack of respect when they get pulled over for routine checks.

Police are trained to follow a Code of Conduct that is respectful toward the public in all situations, maybe they forget the training?

What did I just watch? Those have to be some of the most poorly-trained officers I have seen in my life.

Pretty much every cop I've ever encountered has been an asshole. Doesn't matter if I've been a witness, victim, or suspect, they have been pricks except for a single time in Cambodia when they warned us not to hang out in the area we were cause it was dangerous. I've encountered some that were straight up criminals, plainly working for the mafia..

So yeah, it's sad and outrageous that cops would shoot someone like that, but it's nothing new, and it's no surprise.

Matt was a great guy, still can't believe how many times the cop shot him, such a loss. He was a wonderful person.

The Ontario Special Investigation Unit is an independent, civilian authority with the specific mandate to investigate and, when appropriate, charge police officers involved in incidents liike this. It's not cops investigating themselves.

    Just an FYI.

Just a case of police who shouldn't have badges out on the streets doing stuff that they shouldn't be doing, because they shouldn't have a badge and a gun in the first place. They tasered the guy AFTER he was shot, they couldn't have tasered him before? thats the reason you have tasers! Its called non-letal force you police morons. Taser gun of course, different with just a hand taser. Its just common sense, and police are suppose to have common sense, if they don't they shouldn't be police. You have a guy with a knife, if you have a taser, you TASER HIM! you don't just shoot him then taser him after lol so dumb.

Now hopefully they will put this animal of an officer in jail and charge him, but theres a big difference between charging him and him being found guilty. Plenty of police are charged with crimes like this, most get off due to them being police. Hopefully this cop won't join his hundreds, thousands of brothers who kill and assault people and walk way without any punishment just because they are police officers.
