Even Bush had sense enough not to bring back the draft. The US military is so high-tech it doesn't need a lot of people to fight in its small wars, so unless there's a third world war, I doubt we'll ever see the draft again. And so the people stay on the couch.
I agree.... The rise of hipsters has to do with fashion. It may be a lifestyle but fashion seems to be the fulcrum. Who is wearing the most obscure thrift store western tshirt and skinny jeans? The occupy movement turned into something that started with honest and good intention into a big tent party. Who is listening to the most obscure indie rock, post-rock and dubstep? Who is shopping at the organic farm stands and local co-ops to buy chia seeds and raw milk? I think it started with good intention but the 'style' is hitting the mainstream, and it loses all its momentum once that happens...now it's just a drag. Keep your hippie self, please don't become a hipster.
ive taken LSD several times and 25i- + 25c-nbome twice. compared to LSD, the nbomes suck ass in my opinion. 2ce and 2cb were much nicer than the nbomes for me, but still don't measure up to LSD. that's just not true. LSD today is the same LSD molecule that it was 50 years ago. LSD will always be the same exact chemical structure. granted, there is a lot of other stuff passed of for LSD these days. and most of the real L is dosed lower than it was in the 60s, but my point is...real, potent LSD still exists. i don't really think the 60s are gonna repeat. we might have a similar movement going on now, or up and coming...but i doubt it will make history like the 60s did. i DO think there are some really cool things going on though. there seems to be a small, tight knit community of musicians and hippies around where i live, and where other forumers post from. there is definitely an influx of drugs like never before in history. but that could end up being a bad thing - look at what is going on with the nbomes right now. scratcho, there is great music being made these days. it's just not what dominates the radio playlists.

Social networking? When even single byte of information you share there is scrutinized by the government? The Internet has not freed us it has enslaved us.
I just watched the movie "Magic Trip". The movie about Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters back in 1964. Ken Kesey wrote the book "One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest". Kesey made the movie, but never finished it. It's about a bunch of people that took part in the government LSD testing, done at Sanford University, and then they took a bus from California to the Worlds Fair in NYC, tripping on on acid the whole way. Then they hook up with, Alan Ginsburg, Timothy Leary, Ram Das and Jack Kerouac in New York. Then they drive back to California and hook up with Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead. The name of the bus was "Further". Man, what a trip down memory lane!
