I found that kind of touching on one of the things I was thinking about. Then this following passage sort of hints at why I'd be interested in anthropological approach on the topic...

As the first comment pointed out you got Raves going on nearly weekly all over the world and several of the larger EDM fests every few months. More opportunity for issues and the positive events that frequently go on without a hitch aren't going to make any headlines for the media.

Regarding the specific points on that page:

No headliners? You're gonna make me pay Hundreds of dollars for the event, excluding travel and all extraneous costs and not even provide a well known headliner and suggest that's a good thing? This in and of itself should offset the water argument.

I agree with the point about affordable or free water... At several more low key raves water is often free or a couple dollars at most, however at the larger EDM fests it is often fairly overpriced.

PLUR is very well and alive at most the events I've been too. One thing I'll concede unique to Burning Man which can potentially make it safer is that most Massives and festivals simply can't accommodate an area like at which Burning Man is located. There is a wide open area for Burning Man... However I do believe that some participants of Burning Man have had to be airlifted from the event before no? I don't understand Why can't they just embrace the uniqueness of Burning Man without having to disrespect a different subculture...

The only Burner Party I've been to (while definitely a blast) got shutdown because some guy frying ran down the road naked which must have been at least a mile until any civilization, resulting in having the residents around there call the police and shut the party down. On top of that, Some girl fell ill for several hours who drank a bottle of liquor which was laced with GHB. So based on that experience, I don't necessarily view Burners as these inherently uber responsible individuals as that article portrays.

I will be giving Ibogaine a go because I relapsed bad. If that fails, off to rehab I go. No one is forcing me or anything. It's my personal choice. Wish me luck! Love you guys!

it's been a little while.. but i've been busy since school has started back up. Recently moved into an apartment w/ 5 other people...it's been pretty great so far...went out to a few parties and invited friends over for drinks and such... been going on lots of night time strolls and simply taking in my surroundings. I also met a lot of new people this semester.. some nice women as well

I also have been playing at open mic's night every Thursday which is fun! I recently met these guys who live only a few buildings down from me, who always have access to psychedelics/bud/painkillers, etc... so I recently picked up 3 hits of lsd, which I will hold off on taking until I feel it's the right time to take em'. Will probably do em' soon before it gets to cold..then get more

But i hope all is well w/ you guys! I'm actually quite stoked for autumn! You can definitely feel it's presence.... I feel that these upcoming months and upcoming year are going to be fantastic!

Thanks everyone. I have a good feeling about this. I never thought I would be this excited to quit opiates. Last time, I dreaded it and was miserable for a long long time after quitting.

Ok... So I was thinking: According to a guy I talked with we live in a matrix like reality because:
He claims that he was able to bend the rules of this world by practicing very deep meditation and reading the bible.
He was talking about people taking off the ground. Jumping inhumanly high and dancing with prefect coordination. and telepathy. and basically bending reality.
tho I know that he smoked opium. and cannabis. and tried speed.
He claims that he can do it without drugs and would like to continue doing it without drugs.

oH! And I saw something interesting today. I was chugging coca cola like crazy to see if I could get some hallucinogenic properties out of the atropine that is in it if they use real leaves to make it.

I saw a junkie nodding very hard. Sitting on the ground. The head was not moving. Totally out of it.
And I walked a circle around the place. very quick.
When I was back...he was gone. vanished. There was nobody around. And he was nowhere to be found. He vanished.

I know this person. Once when he was in heavy wd I payed for his hit. I was tripping and I thought he was gonna die.

So anyways.. this felt like an interesting thing because my first thought was that he was in an another realm of consciousness and we are so far away that we cant even comprehend each others existence.

There is more to the world than meets the eye!

I don't know about the Matrix being a computer like the movie but you are on the right track with the whole "its an illusion idea".

Coke does have a bit of cocaine in it. It is impossible to remove all of it and they do use the same cocoa leaves. But the dose is so small you will not get high or piss positive for it. It takes thousands of plants to make even a little coke. The leaf in it's natural form in a normal dose is not like cocaine at all. Naturally it's like caffeine so you don't even notice it when it's in the drink.
