Yeah, the GOP wouldn't try to tell women they had to have children they couldn't afford, or try to ram christianity down America's throat. Right wing conservative fascism is just liberal propaganda against the compassionate, loving republicans.

There is some space, I believe, between condemning Assad's use of banned weapons and wanting to bomb Syria.

I guess what you mean there is: the only world power with the military ability that is considering to crack such a nut, as Russia or China for example would have the military ability as well. There's just not a likely chance they'd use it for this.

Yes, but that is a really big hypothetical 'if' happily. I don't see such a majority happening in western countries. If one thing, the majority of muslims in my country flee from such indoctrinating regimes.

Russia and China do not have the military ability. They have no real ability to project meaningful military power very far outside their own borders.

Well, the whole situation was a hypothetical one. I agree that it is extremely unlikely though.

I'm not so certain. They also could combine their forces with for example Iran and Assad's and definately make an impact I think. Not likely they'd like to get involved this way at this point though :2thumbsup:

Yeah but since other people are proclaiming it is a realistic fear and so are merely helping polarizing certain sides I like to point out the obvious anyway :p

How do you think Russia can project sustained military power that would be needed to crack a nut like Syria? Their sea and airlift capabilities are a joke.

How do you think China can? They can't even take Taiwan right now if they wanted to. Their sea and airlift capabilities are a bigger joke than those of Russia.

They still have the problem of being able to project that power combined power outside of their borders in a meaningful way (short of using nukes).

That's why they could find allies in this regard. But I'm not convinced they can at all, I am not sure. I would not under estimate their military powers though, but once again: one thing that seems likely to me at this point is that they won't get involved military. And perhaps you are right and their (lack of) capabilities are one reason why not.

If it's going to happen anywhere then I'll argue it's most likely going to happen in a western country.

Western governements don't listen to their citizens anymore. They only respond to the desires of corporations, other heads of state and the extreme wealthy.

Under the purest and most indepth interpretation of Islamic law regardless of how a head of state acheives his position. He MUST make himself PERSONALLY available for audience with the public that he administers. NOT to explain his policies, produdures, etc. But to solve the individual problems of those he governs and to do charity.

Even the Saudi princes haven't been able to find a way to get around this. And this is really what many (if not most) Muslims consider the true test of a leader. IE: Does he meet directly one-to-one with his people?

Just as a side note and perhaps this has nothing to do with the conversation. But I noticed in the yankie presidential elections the politicians running are at some point required by the public to declaire their LOVE FOR JESUS(pbuh).

So in a strange way the seed is already kind of there.

When it comes to North Korea, I think it has more to do with the US and our allies not having the stomach for that fight more than anything. While there is no doubt in my mind the United States and its allies would crush North Korea in an armed conflict, even if China got involved, the toll it would require in terms of casualties make it something no one wants any part of.

I don't think the Chinese military, as it stands today, has the ability to make the United States military work up anything other than a light sweat. Why? Because like the Russians their ability to project their military power is extremely limited. Again, they couldn't even take Taiwan right now if they wanted to.

It goes beyond that, Willy. They don't have the military ability to force the straight at the moment. Their biggest issue lies in being able to support and sustain any military operations beyond their borders. Take the US response out of the equation and they still couldn't pull it off against Taiwan. Their numbers mean nothing if they cannot get those numbers into the fight, or support those forces they can.
