Anyone pay attention to the weather in Colorado?

Boulder turned into a shit show the last two days - it was kinda fun

i scrapped a much newer sunfire just a few weeks ago....this one belongs to a friend


its fixed now anyway...the book was pretty accurate at 7 hours...it took me about 4.5 if i just count working time and not rest time

 

Most all of the streets running down the mountain or any street that is level and has mountain streets running into it had at least 6 inches of water rushing down. It was pretty nuts.

The creeks turned into crrrraaazzzy rushing rivers, flooding all of the parks and bike paths. Was really a sight to see. Apparently Lyons got completely fucked with like 6 feet of water.

Living next to a bunch of canyons on a big ass rock really makes a huge difference when it rains like that. I live on top of a big ass foothill so I wasn't affected at home, but boy was it fun to run around the town when all the power went out and we had those crazy WWIII sirens blasting. The kids went nuts.

 

ive slept in my house all month... but iv probably slept in my bed 2 or 3 times...

couch, or the futon, or a fold out pad for the floor... or roommates bed... but I seem to stay away from my own bed lately... dunno whats going on...

my bed is awesome... but I have not been sleeping in my own room.. fucking insomnia and anxiety attacks dammit..

I may check out some freak show carnival thing like 10min from my place with a few people i used to work with. Should be fun. Found out I didnt get that job I interviewed for so im definitely getting drunk tonight

they arent WWIII sirens. jeeze. they are emergency sirens. the old ones just wailed, the new ones can have different tone codes, and actually broadcast the alerts themselves ((this is the emergency alert broadcasting system. this is NOT a test)) we do get tornadoes here. we do get flooding. if ever there was an attack (not perpetrated by the gubment, obviously) the sirens would tell you where to go. i dont have cable, dont always listen to the radio. i would hate to have doom rushing towards me and not get a heads up.

lyons did get fucked. they got news helicopters up there today, bridges washed out, the water is still gushing. and the rain is supposed to pick up again. hubby couldnt get to work today, im glad. he will be going in tonight, and probably staying overnight for safety's sake. so i will be gloomy in the rain. so long as i dont have to evacuate me, the boy, the cats and the dog by myself i will be ok. i dont think i will have to, but only time will tell. the ground is squishy everywhere.

i will be they just said that boulder emergency management revised the numbers- 172 unaccounted for/ havent contacted family. and thats just boulder.

i double checked that i have our vital documents together today, and tomorrow im going to play around with organizing/ rearranging go bags. hubby needs a car kit, but the one we used to have set up is spread throughout the house/ garage. i dont really want him to go to work, but its safer than it would have been last night.

i am worried that the soils will be even less stable now that they have dried out a little bit, i think that will make the next round worse. mother nature is no one's bitch.

 

I've been thinking of all you Colorado people. Even the news and newspaper here has been talking about how awful it is out there.

I think its bad here when the power goes out for a while...can't imagine that kind of flooding, washing away roads etc.
