I don't have a really high opinion of it, but I remember liking it quite a bit when I was first starting to introduce myself to craft beers about 10 years ago. So I suppose Blue Moon isn't a bad beer for people crossing over from the typical macro-swills to better quality craft beers, but in terms of the style there are much better beers out there for not much more than Blue Moon, which has sort of an artificial taste I don't care for much.
being that i drink a little more than you but i am living on a shoestring budget i try to balance the cheap beers with the ones i actually enjoy. and my go to cheap beer lately has been Milwaukee Ice. pretty much because its the cheapest beer i dont hate. Yuengling used to be that beer back when i was in NJ but around here yeungling is as much as bud and coors. which is over $5 a case more than the pbr...(refuse to drink that now just because of the hipster association to it) ballentine is only sold in sixers here so i wouldnt consider that. high life i get all the time when it goes on sale, which is often, maybe because we have their distribution center not far from here. i used to get keystone when i was really scraping by back in nj but i dont drink it much anymore. occasionally would get genesee cream ale right now i dont remember how good it was but i bought it a few times so couldnt be that bad. i wish they had cases of yuengling black and tan cans around here, even for the premium case prices they charge for yuengling around here it would be my go to beer. natty ice i would buy if it wasnt for the others i mentioned, and any of the swill after that i think i might just stick to the good beers rather than suffer through the nasty taste.
tonight i am out of my cheap beers and the store is closed till 6 in the mornin yawnin. so i had to go to my beers that im aging. first on the list is the EVO migration series 2012 which is a belgian style ale aged in oak chardonnay barrel. its a bit on the cidery side which i dont prefer but it was decent and I felt better than i should have from a 7.2% abv beer. next will be the bells 9000th batch, i will be back for that one when and if i do crack it open. edit:broke into the back end of my bar and pulled out a shot of the lairds straight apple brandy. this shit is nasty...which i guess is why it was never drank...or drunk. but i guess it will do the job to give me a buzz while i finish off my second pint of the evo beer.
Leffe is considered here a "one time" beer. Not a beer to drink many of, just one before switching to a different beer or just to enjoy slowly while sitting on a terrace in the sun. Affligem is indeed a very good abbey beer. So is Grimbergen.
the batch 9000 by bells was smoother than the previous "batch" beers i had from bells. it had a nice licorice taste so basically its what i was expecting. really wish i could have gotten that 10,000 batch.
I'm currently drinking... umm.. lol. a Black Creek pumpkin ale. I forget it's acutal name. *hick* but anyway, the girl at the LCBO said it was more of a pumpkin pie spice flavour beer, and I was expecting it to be stronger. It's a little subtle and watery for my taste. However, I did try Mill Street's Nightmare on Mill Street pumpkin ale yesterday and it was really good. It has more pumpkin flavour and just the right amount of subtly. I have yet to try the Octoberfest beer Mill Street. Yum yum yum.
Mad River Jamaica Red Ale. Had two new ones earlier of which i dont know the name of....wait....Willow Wolves.
I am generally not into fruit beers, but I just picked up this one tonight by Founders, called Rubaeus Pure Raspberry Ale, and it is incredible. One of the most refreshing and quaffable beers I have consumed in quite some time, without being overbearingly fruity. This beer is the perfect compliment to this 75 degree Indian summer night. An excellent session beer! Here are the reviews it gets on BeerAdvocate: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/1199/23474
Now moving on to Sam Adams' seasonal imperial pumpkin offering. It's good, but it doesn't compare to Pumking.
Oh, and enjoy this : http://www.sadanduseless.com/image.php?n=2305 ^^What Your Beer Says About You Stout that is all. And a good amber. *froths*
