it's a 'pseudo-craft' beer with the sole purpose of stealing customers away from smaller independent brewers. the beer industry is a war for shelf space and the more beers you have on the shelf, the more likely it is that the customer will buy yours. when the beer claims to be 'artfully crafted' and a huge marketing budget (because it's owned by coors) and just happens to be a dollar less than the local brewer's beer of a similar style, you win. similar story with Ziegenbock Amber. claims to be brewed in Texas (probably is brewed in Houston actually) but is owned by Anheuser Inbev, a Belgian-owned company and competes directly with the local Shiner Bock and costs exactly one dollar less. as for the taste, it's shit. try a real Belgian Witbier.
Hey at least a major commercial American brewery is forced to brew a more premium product. I'd rather see that then everybody and their dog drinking whatever-lite. What is it that makes people want to drink that Miller-bud-coors lite crap? the shit is fucking...well you know... Piss vomit.uke:
gotta agree slightly more with gongs, it is nice that when i go to even the worst stocked beer store now...i get a variety of styles. when i started drinking there wasnt a whole lot of non lagers/pilsners on the shelf at my local store. maybe thats why i started drinking zima, it was the only stuff that wasnt piss water available to me.
i agree to some extent, however, MillerCoors goes out of their way to hide the fact that they own 'Blue Moon Brewing Co.' it's a disingenuous marketing ploy. and it tastes like shit. they have the ability to brew really good beer. it baffles me why they choose not to. compare Blue Moon to any other good Belgian Wit and you'll find the flavor profile an exaggerated cartoon character of what a nice Wit should be.
Yeah I agree with that, it's fairly unscrupulous. Same thing is happening in the natural and organic food market, all the major supermarkets now have their own cheap store brand that are packaged with design that mimicks other higher quality products that they've removed from the shelves. There's not the profits in brewing a good beer, they only want it to be just good enough for the masses.
HAH-I keep saying Im not a big drinker..but Ive been on a roll this week The package store around the corner has a million different kinds of beer........so I picked up a six of > Kelso Flemish Red Ale,,I never had it before. I like reddish ale and I liked the look of the label.. so:cheers2:
