If you are intrested in JAnis Joplin's background(suppose you are a fan of her of course..)and want to know more(..even if i feel it's all pretty say in her lyrics!)about her "off lightback stage" persona, her torched and incredible wild and fun exhistence as well as various tantrums,and..so on, WELL, then..READ IT!:sunglasse
will try and getta copy.....................coolthanks for sharin it.......................................peace
I read this one called "Scars of Sweet Paradise" but I didn't think it was very good. The author made Janis out to be some person that it doesn't seem like she was...the quotes from her family and friends didn't really match with the author's opinion. I just didn't like it...
I'V READ THIS BOOK 2, but i can tell you that this one seams to be better than the other one, becouse at list the writer is not only "imposing the book" 2wards HOW JANIS GET LAID MOST OF THE TIME AND HER BOOZE PROBS.! ..at list in "SCARS OF SWEET PARADISE" you get to know another side of J.J.,which to me seams to be the more down to heart and credible. And also don't forget that is much easier to "sell a book or better a bio" of such an amazing singular energetic icon (as Janis was) talking about just the bad and wildness on her than about her shyness and vulnerability as well as sheer intellinge and deep extreme passion..her sensitiveness not only as woman. She also lived he life in a era when ROCK AND ROLL or music in general) was a man's territory and when woman where better off dealing with kids, and home duties...so not the best scenario for those women (like she was) willing to use not only their bodies as "weopons of mass seduction" but also their brains and especially their hearts...
I definitely agree that it's the better of the two. But not as good as it could be, there's something about it that portrays Janis as only a sex/drugs addict. I mean sure she loved them both but...there was another side to her that they just didn't portray very well.
..YES U'R RIGHT BABE, apparentely there's a book called"LOVE JANIS" that has been lay out and wrote by j.j's sister. The book contains letters and poems send to the JOPLIN FAMILY from Janis since the starting days of "BIG BHROTER HOLDING COMPANY". i assume thet this one, most probably, will be less "money gossiper evil-ish"!.. ..still haven't check it out! ciao.
Yeah I got the Love, Janis book for like $5 w/ the shipping, it's on its way. Has anybody read it yet? Im trying not to expect anything so as to not be disappointed... But what I love about biographies the most is usually seeing the pictures, letters, and all the goodies they usually contain. Btw, if u go to amazon.com and type in love janis, you can actually read a chapter of the book.
Oh gods....I love Janis! I love pictures of her. They will be some of the first art to grace my bus. Urby
I have read some of this book and it seems like one of the best versions of the true life of J. Joplin. Read it and you could be amazed at what was going on behind the scenes of Janis's concerts.
THERE IS SOMEONE out THERE THAT COULD POST ME IMAGES FROM THE INSIDES OF THE BOOK " L O V E J A N I S "? (OR EVEN JUST ONE OF THE WRITTEN LETTERS BY HER ?) ..i don't seam to find the book..still serching for it... FINGER CROSSSSSSED!! ciao/
I read Love, Janis and I think it was one of the most intresting things I have ever read. I loved hearing about who she was before she became JANIS. The book si written by her sister and it shows that she had a really close connection with her family. I love it.
This was a good book. I used this for my senior paper in high school and it helped me a lot. It shows not just the side her family wants to see but a true human. good read
Oh also Buried Alive: Janis Joplin is another good read on Janis. Janis is truely one of a kind an Idol of mine for sure.
