First time in 20 years the United States Court of Appeals is going to hear arguments put forth by Americans For Safe Access on current MJ laws... Honestly surprised this got no attention on these forums.. as its almost 2 weeks old news... http://www.opposingviews.com/i/poli...eview-marijuana-drug-status-1st-time-20-years
The first hearings occured on October 16. http://thinkprogress.org/justice/20...siders-marijuanas-medical-benefits/?mobile=nc It's a step in the right direction, but even if the judges side with the plaintiffs they may likely just kick the ball back to the DEA saying they should reconsider reclassification of marijuana - something that's happened twice already and the DEA declined to reclassify. As long as judges keep the decision making process with the DEA nothing will change.
The system has loop-holes. We should exploit them more. The government is a helpless child to be kicked around by those with enough clarity of mind to do so. And if more did so then we wouldn't have these bullshit marijuana laws that we have today.
Could you gives us some tips on how to kick around this helpless government child? I have a suspicion the alcohol lobby will be holding the childs hand all the time.
The DEA never will never reclassify because their jobs depend on it. Without marijuana their massive budget and man power could not be justified. All the other drugs combined don't equal the amount of people who smoke weed. The DEA can arrest a doctor for dealing if in their opinion the doctor prescribed too many pills. There are cases of this happening to doctors in small towns where they are the only doctor, so everyone goes to them. They were not dealing, they just had allot of patients. How fucked up is that? They have way too much power.
They have taken this DEA-Doctor relationship to the next level... My pain management doctor is a DEA agent... How's that for fucked up logic.
That is seriously sick and I wonder how on earth you can trust him. This problem though is deeper than just a mindless prohibition. For some time I've held the belief that every age and civilization ( if that's the right word) needs it's witch to burn. One era it's wiccan priestesses who go to the flames, next it's anyone not bowing down to the Roman Church, next blacks, then anyone ungodly enough to drink alcohol, then homosexuals and on and on. It is, I suspect, an ancient tribal urge to persecute the outsider and in the case of marijuana also a misguided need to re-enforce the protestant work ethic. Ironically, conservative political forces are the worst perpetrators of these insane prohibitions when you'd think their obsession with free enterprise would have them wanting to remove barriers to trade of any kind and prevent the growth of yet another out of control bureaucracy not to mention the billions spent locking up those committing victimless crimes who could otherwise be productive workers in their economy so obsessed with growth at all costs. As with everything in conservative politics the gap between the claimed ideology and actions is vast to the point of mindless hypocrisy. Ayn Rand is rolling in her grave.
True If more people actually new how are system works and know's every loop hole and law by heart. We can't all be lawyers though.
If you've really done any studying of law..... The law says all sorts of reasonable things. Getting them applied is a whole 'nother mountain. Even the most basic and fundamental law in the US, the constitution, don't mean shit..... every night there's random vehicle checks in the US, and a common tactic is to have an "on call" judge who will sign a warrant for anyone's blood who won't take a breath test, simply because they decided that you couldn't decline that night. And it's a pretty little step from declaring the weekend of the fourth has no fourth amendment, to declaring that there's never a fourth amendment. You can be a great lawyer, all they have to do is show you a precedent set by a bad judge, and you lose.
And this is bullshit because I have personally exercised my rights to not have to say shit to the cops. All you have to do is crack your window and hand them your drivers license, well in Wisconsin anyway. You DO NOT have to talk to cops at all. IT'S YOUR RIGHT TO BE SILENT!
It's your right to be silent, and in many places, for sure in texas (the biggest state, and the second most populus and productive) if you don't comply, they'll drag your smug ass out of your car and beat/taze you for resisting (assuming you try to crack your window or whatever), restrain you, put a needle in your vien, and take your blood. Again, they have a judge who will sign a warrant for the blood of anyone who will not submit to a breath test. It's entirely illegal of them, and they do it. As I was saying, the constitution don't mean shit.
No one has the authority to tell anyone what they can or cannot take into their own body... freedom cannot be taken....only surrenderd... people...really ....remove the bullet from your brains... I do not surrender ..... Freewill shall prevail.... the time is near beast....
I can personally vouch for the thought on texas police. Its really crazy the lengths they'll go to to get something on you.
