Oh you mean like expressing my opinions on a discussion forum? That's how I am, I try (try) not to nitpick other people like you do constantly and just throw my thoughts out there. Either way there are some super fine and interesting ladies here, maybe I should put an ad in my sig. Blondes and redheads not excluded :2thumbsup:
It's on Channel 4 here in the UK - I was going to watch it but I missed it. It's hard to watch ongoing drama with the hours I work. I hear series two has been commissioned - so I'll probably watch the repeat in the new year.
It's on an a (free) 'on demand service' here: 4OD (I can't say I have used it, though). I tend to use the BBC iplayer... I don't have all that fancy DVR etc etc. I have to rely on 15 GB allowance a month, and a restrictive access at work (and whada you know, it will let me watch BBC iplayer, but not 4OD) So I watch shows extremely selectively. I want to give this one a go, though. Channel 4 has quite a few channels, so It's guaranteed to be on one of them at some point The only downside is I'm not a huge fan of Mr Sheen : /
You guys even have free premium cable there? Wow. That is very foreign to me. What's your income tax rate?
I wouldn't say it is 'premium cable' - it's free terrestrial TV (5...and those 5 have other 'networks' on Freeview (look it up if you like - basically, free channels)... What those 5 do is buy in programmes from most of the US networks. Ones that have done well, and will make them some money (Homeland BBT HIMYM etc) Not all that the US has to offer, and not always for the entire run of a series. We had 'Glee' that vanished. We had 'Breaking bad' that vanished (nobody watched it).. The list goes on and on... (all - well most - of what we don't get for 'free' can be found on what you would call 'premium cable') I think you guys tend to just remake our TV or a lot of it is on BBC America or/and PBS. http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/rates/it.htm#1a
That's really strange. In other words you are saying that a brand new series which shotime is paying millions to produce I'm sure.. is broadcasting for free in England? And as far as the taxes, I skimmed through it. So basically anyone above poverty level pays 40%+ in taxes?
Most of these types of shows are 'sponsored' by a large company with their branding/ advertisements at the start and at the end of each ad break. I'm sure the US does this, or just has 10 ad breaks an hour (or payed subscriptions)... Because, for instance, Showtime, is not going to let any of their content on our channels for free. These types of shows are sold all over the world. Showtime are MAKING money allowing us to air it. It sucks for you guys who have to pay for it upfront, I guess. But, there is plenty you get to see that we don't - so don't be too PO I would not say 35k is 'poor/'poverty level' (think of it as about $60k) - the vast majority of people will either pay nothing or 20%
Well, I personally like paying for it and would prefer to pay. It gives it a different feel than something that was free. I can get free directv with a phone call, one of my buddies is a contractor for them. But I pay for cable. Enjoying the fruits of your labor so to speak. But you know how I feel about all that. And there are no commercial breaks on premium cable, just trailers for their own shit in between shows/movies. Speaking of commercial breaks.
