you also have a buffet of (relatively) free vehicles to choose from at any given moment. I have to search and find them like a normal consumer..

but if someone junks a good one, you only have to pay junk price if you want it, from the junking company, correct?

I sell pizza, but if I want to take a pizza home, I have to pay for it, but it is discounted pretty low to a percieved "at cost" rate. I feel it would be the same for you.. If someone junked a '72 442, you would be all over it, right? junkyard cost?

Sorry to hear that you are having this trouble, Arlandis.

Unfortunately, the credit card companies want people to go over the limit or not pay off the balance (as long as they ultimately pay the bill) and include lots of hidden fees. There may be a consumer advocacy group or branch of an attorney general's office that could help you negotiate with the company.

It's generally a bad idea to use credit cards unless you are certain that you will be able to pay off the balance before the bill comes due. With fees and interest one can easily end up paying double or more the price of the original item.

It's a huge aggravation, but I guess it's something to just chalk up to a life lesson.

    nope

junk yards here dont sell cars...they sell the parts

and the scrappers dont sell either...they buy it ..and crush it...and ship it to china....only time i go there is to sell them something..usually im selling whats left of some car i bought from a person ...for me its cheaper to buy a whole car ..take the parts i need ..then sell it for the metal ..i rarely buy parts at the junkers..their prices are ridiculously high

I find it presumptuous to assume that everyone in trouble is responsible for it.

Unless the guy was held at gunpoint and forced to run up a credit card bill that he couldn't pay, I don't see how he isn't responsible for it. He may have felt like he had no other choice, but you still have to take responsibility.

To have no income and still have to pay your bill pretty much leaves you with few choices, but to make debts.

I seriously doubt that he was forced, bribed or other wise coerced into getting a credit card.
I'm over 50 years old and don't have one.
Having a credit card is agreeing to legal loan-sharking, I'm not gonna do it.

Yeah, and i'm sure the world was just the same when you were his age, being 50 years of age.

He should have made better choices concerning his credit purchases.
I understand that health issues come to play in his situation, but were there health issues when he got the card? Also most places will work with a person, the only time they would freeze an account is when they have had no indication from the person that they are tying to clear up the debt.

I WON'T get a credit card for the very reason that it then makes it way to easy to spend money you don't have, and knowing myself, I would be getting myself into debt.

Your right. I am just saying the fact that he made more debts than you could just be an indication that he was in a more desperate Situation than you. Assuming that bank staff can really help you in such situations, is just what it is, namely an assumption and not always true.

That has nothing to do with being irresponsible concerning using credit cards.
People made the same dumb mistakes when 30 years ago as well, though it probably is easier to spend money now with online shopping. :p

I also know more than a few people 20 something years old, who have golden credit, don't have accounts frozen and manage their debt and credit like an intelligent adult.
Age has nothing to do with it, nor does the current economic climate.
He simply spent more than he can afford, people have been doing that ever since the first caveman lent some shells to another cave man for 3 shells interest compounded weekly.

Maybe they just had more Money than the guy in debt, which makes it a lot easier to manage your expences. Dumb People are well off and clever People end up on the street.

Banks have more to lose by absorbing bad debt than they do working with people to resolve debt issues.
They would much rather you be able to work out a deal to save your house rather than foreclose on it. Then they are stuck with a house to sell in a shitty market.
Think about it, the worse the economic climate is, the MORE financial institutions are willing to work with people to resolve problems.
In a bad financial climate, banks and lending institutions absorbing bad debts IS NOT good for them or anyone.
