there are places that will pay you a couple of hundred dollars for non-working junk cars and also places you can donate your car to charities so they can get the money from the parts..
your car seems like a brand new Lexus compared to some of the junks I've driven around in. I agree with some of the people who suggest fixing the small things - exhaust and battery could bring the price of the car up to $1,000 and it'll probably only cost you $100-$300 to fix
no way...its a terrible ad....and way over priced brother...people shop now that we have the internet check this one out...same car...2003...way better condition and driveable...thousand bucks and its a dealer so you know its 950....maybe even 900 http://ontario.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-cars-trucks-2003-Ford-Taurus-Wagon-W0QQAdIdZ546105196
I can understand that as you have to draw the line about how much more you are willing to sink into something you want to get rid of. Hope it sells soon for you.
I'd take that ad down, put in a battery, say it runs a little loud and don't say anything about inspections. Just say it's been a decent car for you but you need the money...or whatever other reason it is you're selling it. And I'd just list the price you really want for it and stand firm. If you list it too high, you will get less calls. If you list it cheaper, you will get more calls from serious buyers. I try not to negotiate prices when I'm buying or selling something. I hate playing that game. Just tell me how much you want and I'll decide if I'm willing to pay that much.
But this car might not actually be safe for your children haha. Great selling point, now I know why your a biochemist and not a salesman. LOL
it looks like a better deal, and is described at least as drivable. However: 1. It's in Ontario rather than Rochester. Different markets often mean different prices. 2. Dealers are famous for bullshitting people, so who knows what the real deal is on this vehicle 3. The mileage rather than the year is usually more important in determining price. I don't know what the real value of his car is, but it may be less than what he's asking for.
his price is fine..anyone paying 700 will know not to expect much also i like the honesty of the ad i would say 700 FIRM to ward off the scrappers who will offer 200 to tow it away...and then drop the price easy when someone actually shows up to see it..i never haggle unless the person is right there in front of me with cash in hand...the other people who make offers in email are just time wasters
thanks, bbad. i'm actually having my mechanic jump start it and take a look at the exhaust. if it's less than a couple hundred bucks to fix it, i might drive it for another year. i wrote this ad last night trying to be humorous
if its a flange that rotted out you can usually fix them real cheap with universal ones and longer bolts
thats weird...they usually break at the flanges http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/s420/2010-01-23_203920_97_Taurus_Catalytic_conv2.jpg youre probably out of luck then...the metal they use is usually aluminized and hard to weld up
I made new brake lines, but check out the rest of the car. This is why if someone moves here from up north I'm like SELL IT!!
you guys are spoiled down there lol..that rust is not so bad ive seen shackle brackets so thin they bust off and the floor of the box is holding the truck up (mostly fords)
i agree with bbad. you southerners are spoiled it's a DEAL when people up here can buy a car from down south. i think even in PA cars don't rust as bad because they use sand or gravel instead of salt (or maybe less salt, i dunno)
I did come up as an auto tech up north.. definitely remember the days of big chunks of dirty brown snow dropping on me from the back of the wheel wells once it was in the shop and in the air for a few minutes. But spoiled or realistic? Lol those cars are done, I don't care how nice they look or their blue book value. Terminal cancer done. I need to make my way out west some point where cars can be 50+ years old and still solid. Plenty of that here but out in Arizona and Socal the shit is just chillin in people's sheds or barns and has been for like 20 years.
i think a 50 year old car might be just as fine, if it sat 20 years in a barn in new york. what about cars overheating out west because of extreme heat? my bro moved to AZ this summer, and had to worry about that.
make that two separate offers for $325...the scrappers are reading my ad. another guy said he was "very interested" but hasn't replied to my reply email yet. my mechanic jumped it last night and took it to the shop. might be til monday when i find out the cost to fix the exhaust. if i fix it though, it's for me. i'd be happy to drive this bitch completely into the ground, and THEN get $325 for it
