The dinosaurs were here for 165 million years. If we don't care about the environment, we're not even going to last 300,000... and right now, it's not looking good. I guess it won't matter in the end, but that's pretty fucking lame if you ask me.
Well maybe I was being too blunt. I believe we should care about what we have now, but everything is temporary.
Meh the environment has dished out a helluva lot more over millions of years then we could ever do to it. We shouldn't worry about destroying the environment as much as we should worry about destroying ourselves.
^But it's not just mankind, it's hundreds of thousands of species going extinct every single year because of us. We currently causing the most accelerated extinction event in the Earth's history. And the only people who are getting anything out of it are going to be dead before they experience the long-term effects of what they're doing, which will affect billions and billions of people, as well as causing the extinctions of millions of entire species. There is literally no way to describe except to say that it's completely insane.
some might even agree. george carlin went on about how the earth itself is doing just fine, then he pointed out, it will just shake us off, like a dog shaking off fleas. but we do have a choice about making the only world we know how to live on, unable to continue supporting our own species. we have that choice statistically. bad choices are being made by people in positions to make them, but all of us together statistically create the incentives and markets, which motivate them to make them.
Why should I care about the environment? I thought that is what Al Gore is for. In recent news, the lowest temperature on earth was recently recorded (-135.8). So much for global warming.
the majority of people need to wake up. thats the real problem. most people r fuckin dumb. like george carlin said
If we lived in an environment, I would care, but since we don't, smoke it on up. "we'll adapt" Or was that "go shopping"---I forget.
I agree with protecting the environment. But I don't agree with it being used as an excuse to exploit people. I mean we get taxed for producing the gas that trees breathe. And then these taxes go to develop GM poisons. I never "chose" to use energy without emissions capture. So why should I pay 95% tax on fuel? Then a source as toxic as giant batteries gets off with government subsidies. A lot of this stuff on "carbon emissions" reminds me of the feudalists who'd tax people on the number of windows they have. Maybe they thought windows increased the greenhouse effect in those days... WTF
