Using the example of the "fuck god" thread, most poeple (including myself sometimes) want a specific reaction or confirming action for a group. So people come here hoping to bug people and get them angry just to fufil their own expectations of said group. And if their post doesn't acheive their desired effect, they will twist what others say so that it still fits their paradigm. This could work in many other applications as well. People coming in to bash hippies in the YH board, omnivores in the veggie forum, etc. It isn't just this place, but it is poeple wanting to feel as though they are right, so they set up scenerios so that they always are right.
There's people like FedUp, who's probably my best friend on this forum, that posts stuff out of anger because holier than thou Christians probably make life difficult for him. Well, for everyone pretty much. Then there's people like ItalianHippy who are young guys who are rebelling against mom and dad. He learned some naughty words he heard on Cinemax one night and decided to be "on the edge" and come to a forum and really give it those Christians. Praise God that he came at us. We have a chance to show him the way to God now. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH (Really Evil Laugh) HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
This is a common problem, since it's one of the stronger temptations we face every day. It's easy to judge others, and forget that we come to God through Christ's righteousness and not through self-righteousness. But it's a difficult path. If we anger non-believers, Christ teaches us to only love them the more for it.
There is something to be said for posts that anger religious believers and it is this, the believers would not feel so angered if their beliefs were something more than a mere superstion that had no more basis in fact than the ability to perform voodoo magic. I agree, a post which says "fuck god" is too unintelligent for even the average moron to put up with, but some of the more intelligent questions also anger religious sects like muslims, christians, jews. If these people cant have a rational debate its because they have no answers, or at least not an answer which is rational or intelligent
I agree with FedUp on this one. But Columbo, I don't think that your assessment stands up to even light scrutiny. If I posted something like "fuck you atheists, you're all going to burn in hell because you hate God and I'll be laughing down at you from heaven" in the atheism forum, I'm fairly certain that I would get some fairly nasty replies, and rightly so. That would not mean though that atheism was a bunch of voodoo magic. Or if I approached John Glenn in public and called him a liar and a government stooge and claimed that he never went to the moon he might get mad and punch me in the face. Someone did actually do that, and got punched by John Glenn. Anyhow, does that mean that John Glenn never went to the moon?
