i've seen the spherical distortion effect of a malfunctioning cloaking device.

i can easily understand how it could have been mistaken for a weather balloon.

but the place i saw it rise from, it would have been impossible to launch a weather balloon from.

i might have thought it was a floater inside my eye, but other people i was with, saw it at the same time and pointed at it at the time.

My dad was born in 1925 and he told us how when he was hunting Jack Rabbits in Texas, he saw a tiny saucer-shaped something about 2 feet across hovering and zipping along the power line, extending some sort of metal extension arm device to touch the power line. He said he observed it at close range for a while and it kept zipping off to hover other places before it did that sideways lean then vanishing.

My brother-in-law told of an even closer encounter while he was still in high school, but it was something so traumatic he rarely speaks of it and had to get therapy to get over it. My sister said it caused post traumatic stress for years and he never speaks of it, to avoid ridicule.

But I think this latest generation really never sees anything because those UFO stories were so common when I was young. My parents were very matter-of-fact about it, as well as my missionay kid friends in Haiti who watched (with their families) strange craft hovering or landing at night very close to them, or blocking the mountain roads at night when they drove around a hairpin curve. Most of the missionaries I knew in Haiti were pretty blase about everything. They'd tell about it, but didn't seem too concerned.

I was the only one in my family who even thought all the sightings were remarkable. My siblings just joked about what they saw and went off to play.

i think the people who make no big deal about it have the right idea.

Curiosity; the mark of high intelligence in animals and people. It's true that most people go on with their lives looking neither right nor left.

well that's not what i meant, though that is also true.

what i meant was, that if people from some other world are joy riding around on ours, the odds of they're actually being any kind of a threat are somewhat less then one percent. not absolutely zero perhaps, but not very high either.

and if they are here, curiosity is a far more probable reason, then anything we have they couldn't find more cheaply and easily somewhere else.

An interesting site along these lines is Stan Gordon's UFO Anomalies Zone.
Stan became interested in UFO's, etc, back in 1965 when the Kecksburg incident happened in Pennsylvania. This incident has been reported on national TV several times, and my entire family witnessed a very strange extreme illumination of the nighttime sky when it occurred.

The site lists a vast amount of sightings of various things, mainly from Pa. but also elsewhere. Stan is nationally recognized and is a very good source of this stuff as he will only report on the sightings without commenting on the validity, unless they can be debunked.

He has a huge collection, my brother-in-law went to visit him at his home back in the late '60s, when he wasn't well known, and said he showed him file cabinets full of stuff. He said he was shown one particular photo that scared the beejeeses out of him, but I've never seen it on the site.

The latest sighting he reports on is from Dec. 3, 2013...but it turned out to be a "Sun Dog". The archives section is fairly large, you can spend a lot of time here.

    Good thread.

I've seen a few odd things in the sky at night but I have no idea what they were. I think the reason there are less reports these days is simply that people don't look up often enough. They are looking at the road or at their phones or whatever other distraction is around them. It's just a guess but what if people spent a lot more time just sitting outside with the lights off looking at the sky?

It was normal for many people here, my mother for example, but I have not seen a UFO. I must ask her to tell this story to me again. ) During times of USSR, our government had research and bases of military in this region, it is perfect to test the secret technology. Many of the bases now are abandoned, I have found 2. We also have many mysteries, and tales like UFO's! You may like it. ) http://www.forteantimes.com/features/fbi/2800/valley_of_death.html

There are whole UFO Museums full of unidentified flying objects, only that most of those objects are just rocks, and not actually spaceships, of Aliens that have been guilty of speeding or something.

    Oh yeah!
I remember reading about this incident as well seeing interviews with people who were eyewitnesses of similar events, on the Discovery Channel. My dad had several books about government cover-ups. Why they'd cover it up is puzzling. One guy has been claiming the government has been doing time-traveling experiments since the 1970s and that he was one of their guinea-pigs being sent back when he was just a little boy. He was too poor to have rights back then, he said. He claims he is in an old photo at Gettysburg.

Jeepers! Also, UFOs really could be some of our grandkids on field trips, if the USA has been testing time travel since the 1960s, as seen in this article, with photos of a modern boy at Gettysburg, now a whistle-blower for the DARPA program.

I would so badly enjoy to stear an alien's ship and see how fast I can go with it.

I asked my mother about her story, on the telephone ) She said to me that in 1970's, she was finding flowers to make tea. She and my grandmother saw a orange ring in the sky. It was moving very fast, and bright like fire. The shape was perfect circle, but she can not remember more than this.

Aura and I once saw some multicolored burst of light jet across the sky while we were walking home from a train station, and once my son's mother and I went to visit her father on his farm and for about 2 hours there were 2 glowing orbs way up in the sky which didn't move, and at some point they were suddenly gone; this was during broad daylight and confounded all of us. I've never seen any strange crafts though, only these two instances of peculiar lights.

the only real light Ive seen, was with my friend Andy. we were checking on some plants I had in the park. When two small soda can round lights took off from inside an abandoned train tunnel we were walking over. around this corner of hillside its totally black. we seen them clearly enough to look at each other and say "what the fuck was that?"..

now Ive seen other lights in the sky, but nothing has even come close to what andy and I saw.

this area the woods is a special place for me, but not because of the lights.

:confused:That secret DARPA time travel program that kept sending children and adults back into history, and their reluctance to change the future (based on the knowlege) for fear of losing accuracy of future time travel observations may reconcile alot of the seemingly silly government secrecy about UFO sightings. http://t.co/51EhsphcpR

Maybe they know something we don't since they supposedly saw 9-11 and did nothing for fear of altering the time-line (according to the witnesses). So maybe everyone is right..conspiracy theorists, people in trailer parks whose UFO sightings are routinely ridiculed in the media (maybe the media was told to play it all down)

This is from the article in the link above:

Andrew D. Basiago answers questions about Project Pegasus and 9/11
Q: Why would the US take part in 9/11?
Andrew D. Basiago: What I know is that in the early 1970's, Project Pegasus had moving images of one of the planes hitting one of the Twin Towers on 9/11; that 9/11 was known and spoken of by project principals; and that the defense attache to Project Pegasus was Donald Rumsfeld, the individual who was serving as Defense Secretary during 9/11. The evidence from Project Pegasus shows that the US government knew about the 9/11 attacks many years in advance, not necessarily that it "took part" in those attacks.

Q: If Project Pegasus knew about 9/11 before it would happen, why wasn't 9/11 prevented from occurring?
Andrew D. Basiago: That's a good question. What I know is that it was the consensus of the US officials administering Project Pegasus that information about future events should be used to engage in contingency planning for future events but not to "play God" and change the future by preventing or altering future events.

A paradox exists such that acting to change future events based on prior knowledge of them results in diminished accurate knowledge of future events. So, there is an institutional reluctance to change future events based upon prior knowledge of them because of the impact of doing so on the quality of the intelligence database concerning future events.

Q: How much information about the future has Project Pegasus learned about?

Andrew D. Basiago: My experiences in Project Pegasus indicate that by 1970, the US government was using chronovision to capture remotely and record on film a vast amount of footage of past and future events. When we visited the project location at Flemington, NJ -- where I was shown remote images of the signing of the US Constitution in 1787 and saw George Washington and Benjamin Franklin as they appeared in life -- we could see that the technicians there were filming reams and reams of scenes of past events on 16 mm film stock and storing it in film canisters. Presumably, this process is done digitally today.
