I don't see it like that. Well, what you say seems right but I mean it is not the main thing why straight men don't have same gender crushes. After all, I and a lot of other straight guys can appreciate the beauty of other men without problem. It's just remains most often to be an aestethic appreciation though, not a crush like real sexual attraction. Subtile diffference between those.
Do you find it true that most straight men wouldn't voice their appreciation about another man's looks?
It is the stereotype for straight men. And I can imagine it holds truth in the majority of the world. I think it's the more juvenile type, they are generally more concerned about not being regarded as the superstraight alphamale. So I think men who wouldn't voice the appreciation for another man's look feel more threatened in their heterosexuality than by thinking, hell he looks so good he could be threatening my luck with the ladies. Not saying guys can't feel threatened by other guys in the looks department of course! That does happen all the time too.
It might be that most men departmentalise. Most men have males that they may aspire to: looks, position or prowess in a particular activty. But don't see those same men in the sexual sense. Also, many men may say they have male friends or would like to spend time with another male. It is the sex. Most women seem to not think directly about the sex. Straight men do not often think about sex with other men, but (pardon the pun) It is usually the first thing a man would think about when talking about a'crush'.
Mama, at 52 (I've been told I am a young 52), I could not hope to keep up with the likes of you. And at 52, I still blush (it is embarassing, but I have learned to have a sense of humour about it). thanks for the laugh, - JKHolman
I should have listened to the little voice telling me to avoid this thread. You people are corrupting me. - JKHolman
Cut it out, Piaf Even an old-fashioned type like me can enjoy a 'free pass' on paper. Mine to come later (and you two girls don't even think of putting a pun on my sentence). - JKHolman
1. Kate Beckinsale... ridiculously gorgeous. Underworld is my favourite movie because she's in a catsuit and a trenchcoat, and the whole vampire thing is just fuckin' hot. 2. Kate Beckinsale again. 3. Hermione 4. Cheryl Cole, the welsh accent just makes her even hotter. 5. Amy Lee (Vocalist from Evanescence)
