I also have a prescription for Valium, and took that as an alternative to Xanax. Watched a family member go through Xanax w/ds. A family member who never abused her pills a day in her life. Plus that whole blacking out thing.
Ugh I can't stand benzos for the most part. Basically, what happened to me was my psychiatrist prescribed me clonazepam, time and time again, despite the fact that I'm a total addict and abused them to the point where I needed to be hospitalized several times over the course of about a year and a half. I used to down bottles of wine with a pocket full of clonazepam-- bad idea! Diazepam is probably the least malicious benzo because you can get a pretty good feeling without going overboard. Lorazepam is by far my least favorite. I took 2mg with a few beers and snorted up to 60mg of adderall in one night. The 2mg + beer were just enough to make me take 1mg more of lorazepam and I blacked out and was up all night popping it casually and drinking more to the point where I probably took about 14mg total. I was blacked out all the next day and apparently was calling my family at 2am telling them I wanted to die... Next day, still blacked out, I went to my friends house and stole her ritalin (we're not friends anymore :-/) and snorted 100mg JUST before the cops came and dragged me to the psych ward. I've been psychiatrically hospitalized about 9 times in the last 2 and a half years and a good 8 of those times were directly after I blacked out on benzos and did/said stupid shit. Needless to say, benzos are up there with DXM on my list of drugs I've tried that I'm NEVER doing again. It's just not worth it to me, every time I take benzos I take a few, don't feel anything, take ONE more and just black out and take all that I have.
K-pins (klonopin) are the nicest and my favorite. Sadly, I developed a permanent tolerance for it. After a year and a half I asked my shrink for it again, and was so confused when I took 16 of them and noticed almost nothing. I've tried valium, diazepam, ativan and they did not phase me at all. Xanax is strong and great and it's the only benzo that has noticeable effects. Unlike K-pins, the Xanax will at least have physical affects (helps a LITTLE with restlessness and muscle relaxation). Xanax is the only benzo who's resistance is only temporary for me. Klonopins are the best overall IMO, better than xanies
I had prescription to rivatril (0.5mg) Ate them about 2 years, didnt work well.. Now buying from UG diapams or opamox, they helps me best!
alprazolam any day been prescribe to kpins valium and xanies, xanies by far always felt the best valium gave me the best sleep. kpins had the least withdrawl for me anyway
I don't understand the blacking out that people are mentioning - it never happened to me. "Diazepam is probably the least malicious benzo because you can get a pretty good feeling without going overboard." I have never gotten a "good feeling" from Valium. My Rx is 10 mg QID but I rarely take more then 2 a day. I'm prescribed it for panic and anxiety and I know they're supposed to kick in quick quickly, but I honestly never notice a difference. I've taken 20 mg at one time a few times and that didn't help. I curious as to how much people take at one time to "feel good". The one thing it does help (if I DO take it as Rx'd) is my muscles. That's a small part of the reason I am Rx'd the max dose. Docs here can't legally Rx more than 10 mg QID. Because I'm off all my other psych meds - shrink has officially declared that none of my mental illness symptoms can be treated/managed by medication - I'm considering stopping the Valium completely. I hate ALL Rx meds. ALL of them!
i took xanax like twice. didn't take enough to really feel it. so i have very little experience with benzos. my wife has a script for klonopin, which she never takes.
Clonazepam as well for me. Lasts forever. Xanax is good too, Ativan is nt that good. Valium is ok. Writer do they have different benzo available for prescription in Canada? In England I heard that Xanax is rarely prescribed but Valium is frequently
Xanax for sure. It's excellent for sleep and takes the edge off of basically any stressful situation.
For daily treatment of anxiety I would pick Clonazepam. If im trying to get fucked up or use recreationally I would choose either temazepam or triazolam.
